My nephew is due at the end of this month. My sister has finally picked a name out for HIM - they are going to name him Avery. What do you think of that name? Be honest. I dont know if I like it or not for a boys name.
Re: Thoughts
I think it did originate as a boy's name, but it has recently gone to the girls. A lot of people now a days will probably assume the child is a girl because the name Avery is associate more with girls than boys. Our neighbor's got 7 Christmas photo cards from friends with little girls named Avery last year.
It's not a terrible name by any means. Would I use it? No, but I wouldn't give the side eye to anyone who named their boy that.
I was just wondering if it was more a boys name or girls name? They went from the name Eli to Avery. I am puzzled lol.
Ha! This is the first thing that comes to mind too. I use them all the time.
The first Avery I ever knew was a boy. TBH, every time I heard of a girl Avery after that, it sounded weird. If your sister likes it for her baby, there's really nothing you can do except smile and get over it.
