My blender sucks at crushing ice. It was a hand-me-down from BIL and SIL, so it's old and beat up. I want to buy a new one...but alas, a Vitamix is not in the cards.
I make protein smoothies a few times a week, so I want something that is easy to clean, too.
Anyone have a good blender they can recommend? It MUST be able to crush ice cubes...and my fridge ice crusher doesn't work.
Thanks!
Re: rec your blender
Ahhhhh I dream of a Vitamix! But not in the cards for me either.
The best blender I've had is the one I have now - http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=kitchenaid+blender&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=4279793163584625227&sa=X&ei=NJckTvSKA-T30gG1v6yxAw&ved=0CJsBEPICMAM
It's a KitchenAid and is under $100. They sell it at BBB, so you can get it 20% off. I've never has issues with ice or that "burning" smell you get when your blender is working overtime and it has a bicarbonate pitcher instead of glass so I don't risk breaking or chipping it. It's great in the dishwasher. It only has 5 speeds but it pulverizes anything. I mostly use it for smoothies with frozen fruit, ice, etc. I'd highly recommend it.
I make fruit-yogurt smoothies at least 3 days a week, after going through several large traditional blenders & a magic bullet. I settled on this:

It works well for smoothies (I've no problem with ice ore frozen fruit), it great when you're in a hurry in the morning and best of all it's cheap so I don't feel bad it breaks in a few years. I've had it for 6 months & love it.
