Spilled fragrance oil on dresser - wood is stripped?

I accidentally spilled the reed diffuser on my dresser but didn't discover it until the this morning. Now the wood is stripped! Can I fix this or am I screwed? Thanks!

Re: Spilled fragrance oil on dresser - wood is stripped?

  • It is fixable.

Use a varnish remover to lift the finish over that side of wood (or all sides if it dripped). Match stain.  Stain and let dry.  Revarnish.

I spilled nail polish remover on a bureau.  Even though I caught it almost immediately, I still had to do this process on the top of the bureau.  I was so mad at myself.

  • Have you tried putting mayonnaise on it  I know it sounds gross, but I think the oils help it.  I had this happen one time with nail polish remover and it worked!
