My inlaws niece just had a beautiful baby girl who was diagnosed with downs syndrome. Her mom is shocked and so upset. Please lift her and baby Milla in your prayers.
I plan on sharing this website with her one day in hopes that it wil bring her hope.

Re: Prayers needed
They are in my prayers.
And be prepared to cry big crocodile tears if you read the birth story. That made me smile.
http://www.kellehampton.com/2010/01/nella-cordelia-birth-story.htmlthis exactly. My cousin has Down Syndrome and he is one of the most amazing guys I know. His mom did great things for him when he was younger with school and stuff. He competes in the special Olympics!

She will be in our T&Ps. It is a tough diagnosis...esp when someone doesn't know much about it and/or only knows the negative things about DS. She must grieve the child she thought she was going to have. So, it may take some time.
My DH and I are very involved with Father's Joy, which was started by my BFF after her daugter was born. They offer support, and education to parents of children with DS. Please forward this website to her to view (when she is ready). http://www.fathersjoy.org/
If they live in Houston, there is an awesome school, called The Rise School. http://www.riseschool.org/houston/ But the waiting list is HUGE and can take years to get in. I believe they made the difference in my BFF's daughter life. She is now going to the 4th grade, in regular classroom, passing TAKS, on a swim team, etc, etc.
If she is like almost every other parent with a child born with DS, she is boombarded with negative information. Children with DS can do ANYTHING any other child can do....it just takes them a little longer.
Lots of hugs for her.

Great information. I'll tuck this away if I ever know anyone who needs it.
My thoughts are with the mom and the child. It's a very difficult thing to come to terms with, I'm sure.
Thanks for all of the information. I will forward this to her when the time is right.
They live outside of Knoxville so if anyone knows of support groups they would like to share then that would be great.
She and her baby have lots of loving family that will love little Milla no matter what:)
