Bachelorette Ideas - bar or lounge for 6 people in NYC?

Help! I'm at such a lose.  Need suggestions for a place to drink after dinner.

Bride would not appreciate a club or super trendy place.  Moreso looking for a fun lounge, preferably places to sit with fun music and party crowd.

She's normally into dive bars and pubs (think Hoboken).

Any thoughts???

Re: Bachelorette Ideas - bar or lounge for 6 people in NYC?

  • first of all, a dive bar, and a lounge are two totally different things, so i'm not sure exactly what you're looking for.  can you elaborate?

for some more "tame" places:  botanica bar has a cool loungey area in the back--it's on houston and mulberry.  lolita bar isn't necessarily loungey, but it's got a very laid back vibe and great juke box--it's on broome  and allen.

as for a dive bar (and i am an afficionado of those!), i highly recommend doc holliday's, on ave. a and 9th street.  they LOOOOVE bachelorette parties in there, plus it's extra divey and oh-so-fun.

  • For my bachelorette party in May, we did a cooking class and then went to Dove Parlour on Thompson Street (Soho/village) area. We were able to reserve tables at no charge and there was a good crowd and music, but not too trendy. It did get very crowded however, but we were fine bc we had waitress service. Also, Cibar on Irving Place between 17th and 18th in Gramercy is fun and I believe it has an outdoor garden as well. It is a little small though. Good luck!
  • Whatever you do, do NOT go to Lucky Chengs or Lips. LOL

Stereotypical Bachelorette place, overpriced and has a bunch of smelly drag queens that are more drag than queen. LOL

My sister lost her mind and took me there, it was full of bridge and tunnel people/tourists and I was horrified and angry as all get out.

Honestly, I just wanted a day at the spa with the girls and a nice lunch. Instead, all I got was a sweaty tranny who pushed my face into a cake shaped like a penis.

*She almost didnt make it outta there alive...lolol

In all fairness, I did win the 'Miss Most Flexible" contest that night. LOLOL
