Car Insurance

Anyone have Progressive car insurance?  DH wants to switch from State Farm because Progressive is $50 cheaper a month, but I'm worried about quality of service if anything should happen.  Thoughts? Stories?  Give it to me straight! :-) Thanks ladies!

Re: Car Insurance

  • I have Progressive- I think we have the middle coverage (50,000BI,100,000acc), it has been good to us so far (we got it a year ago).  In Feb-March a huge tree branch (from the neighbors tree) fell on the roof of DH's car and he needed his roof replaced (new paint, molding, interior headliner).  They came to look at it and let us bring it to the autobody shop that DH choose and it was completely covered!  They are quick to pick up their phone on the customer service end and helpful.  I have not had any problems with them so far.. :)

You should choose to get the payments taken it automatically: it reduced our payments.  This may already be added into your deal, but if its not I would ask about it!

  • Call and check the price of Erie Insurance, too.  They have been awesome.   When our neighbor hit my car back in Dec., they didn't even come look at the car, just sent us a check.   When the tree fell on my car last month.. they only wanted one quote (but DH got a few)..  We also got $40 a day towards rental cars for both instances.

  • We have Progressive and haven't had any issues. Granted we haven't needed to submit a claim or anything *knock on wood* so I can't speak about that part of things. But everything about switching to Progressive (Had Allstate in GA but it's not offered in MA), combining coverage with DH when we got married, etc has been such a breeze.

  • Thanks everyone...Insurance is such a hassle, its good to know you'll be taken care of if you need it.  I'll let DH know your experiences.
