My husband is going into basic training in October and will be gone for two months. What are some interesting countdown ideas you have done to get through the time apart?
Re: Countdown Calendar
I counted down H's last deployment by number of workouts. 4 workouts per week times however many weeks he was scheduled to be gone.
ETA: I've also done it by number of dog training classes. One class a week makes for a much lower number than 4xweeks.
I don't. Makes it worse. There's a reason the stupid deployment ticker is called the "donut of misery" lol.
Instead of counting down, I make weekly or bi-weekly "girl dates" or fun weekends away that I can enjoy while he's gone. Things to look forward to intermittently without focusing on the "ZOMG HUSBAND IS GONE" factor. I like to set little alarms on my phone that go off at the halfway mark, but that's about it.

I plan something every week to look forward to. I also X off every Sunday that passes. Sundays are a special day in our family. We make breakfast together, go to church, have lunch with family memebers and then have a movie night together after dinner. At the end of the day, the kids mark another Sunday off the calendar.
