Cristina's sucks! (vent)

I really need to vent!

I am in a Feb 2012 wedding. I was measured and called in my  measurements to the salon to order my $220 dress. The girl tells me I need a 16. I told her there is no way. I wear a 0-2 from Banana Republic and my size 26 jeans are a little baggy. I weigh 115 pounds. No way.

She said, "These dresses run small, so you need a 16." We argued back and forth for a bit, and finally I said, "Well you are the expert, you do this daily, so fine, get me the 16."

I got it last night.

Indifferent

I am going to need at least 8 inches of fabric cut off for the dress to even touch my skin! The chest comes below my chest. Seriously.

I called the salon this morning and very nicely explained that the dress was enormous and if they would kindly send me a replacement in a size 12. The girl was so rude and started yelling at me (I never once raised my voice). She even said, "Well if you really are a 0/2 in Banana, you needed an 8 but there is no way you are really that size."

Um, why would I lie about that in effort to get a $220 dress in a smaller size? Wouldn't I want to ensure I get the most accurate size for a dress of that price?

We seriously argued and I listened to her basically call me a liar for a good 10 minutes.

She refused to admit their mistake or take any responsibility. She refuses to order another dress to have shipped to me so I can return the size 16 (which would be a good size to have in the store for an off the rack buy or a try it on dress).

She then decided to blame it on my being "measured" wrong. I told her I just had a baby in November. My measurements were probably a little off, but that is why I was very explicit when ordering what my street size was so they would know. Now, that girl took the street size and converted it into a dress size that I likely need. Why didn't the first girl do that when I placed my order?

Incompetence.

Oh, then she hotly informed me that "they have hundreds of calls from out of state daily." which I took to mean, "we don't care about you or anyone else. We're all about the volume."

Whatever.

I know one of the other BM had a horrendous time ordering her dress from there so it's not just me!

Re: Cristina's sucks! (vent)

  • I remember when you ordered that. Ridiculous. And terrible c/s!
  • That's awful.  Are you going to try to alter the size 16, or sell it and order an 8 or 12?
  • Oh no, I didn't know you went ahead with the size 16!  I despise bad customer service and you can bet I'd be looking for revenge in every way possible--bad Yelp reviews, reporting to the BBB, etc.  Have you tried talking to a manager?

    Ugh, what a PITA.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I remember when they told you to order the size 16, and I thought that was crazy.  I know dresses run small, but come on....that is ridiculous.  If you as a 0/2 fit into a size 16 for their dresses then what does someone wear if she is a size 12 or so?  It just doesn't make sense.

So what are you going to do???  Did the bride get her dress there?

  • I told the bride about it. She is very upset and wants to do her own alterations someplace else.

She is calling the owner tomorrow. I doubt I could sell this dress for that much, esp around here. I will take it to my seamstress soon so she can start pinning it. I'm sure she will work miracles on it!

  • Keep the extra fabric your seamstress cuts off and send it to Cristina's to show them how ridiculous their advice was :)

That must be one awesome seamstress you have!

Make sure you send it with a before picture of the dress as it hangs on you now.

And post all pictures in a nasty review on The Knot's Boston board.
  • After you show the extra fabric to Cristina's, you should have it made into ties or pocket squares for your H and DS.  Sounds like there will be plenty!

  • Ha! I'm totally late on this, but I busted in all ready to defend Christinas ice cream. Love!
