My Grandpa's 80th birthday is this weekend. I'm flying up to Detroit to be there. The party is during the day ending around 7ish. I've recently lost a bit of weight so almost everything in my closet fits me like a bag. A good problem but bad when you are looking for clothing from your closet. I have this dress pictured below in black. It's a jersey dress and fits me very well. I was planning on lightening it up with some large gold metal feather earrings and some gold sandals.
My question is do you think it's to night time for a daytime party. I still have a few days to go out and find something else.

Side note: I will stand out. I'm the only granddaughter, and the only girl born on that side of family in over 100 years. So I want to look nice.
Re: Fashion thoughts and help
Congrats on the weight loss! Woo!
I think that dress would totally work. Just keep it casual with the hair and foot wear (maybe some fun gold sandals to compliment the gold earrings?) and you'll look great!
Plus, it's always better to be overdressed than underdressed.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
I just had to say, this is fascinating!
And ditto pp, I'm sure it will be fine. Although I always like an excuse to buy a new dress

On my Dad's side of the family, since before that side of the family came here from what was Czechoslovakia. They have always had boys and the first born is always named Andrew. It goes back at least six generation. My Dad is also the first son, had my brother, then oops he had a girl. I've always been the odd duck. There are 8 grand kids and I'm the only girl. I don't think my Dad's side of the family knew what to do with me.
I think I'm going to stick with the dress and spring for some new shoes!
