I don't post here but I have a question!

H is in the AF but is getting medically discharged probably within the next 6 months. I talked to the education office about having him transfer his GI Bill over to me but they said the only way he will be able to transfer it is if he re-enlists.

Well obviously that can't happen so my question to you is, will he be able to transfer it to me after he gets out of the military? I thought I've heard from someone that we can share the GI Bill even after he gets out of the military so I'm just wondering any of you have been able to do that. Thanks!

He would have to re-enlist for 8 years with a commitment to do at least 10 years in order to be able to transfer it to you under the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

Ok thanks. The lady I talked to seemed to be in a rush so she didn't explain it fully to me.

  • I've heard rumor of differences when someone gets discharged for a medical reason. Talk to the VA.
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • I ditto Stan about talking to the VA.  They were extremely helpful with getting my husband started with the paperwork.
