Where to find nice sunglasses?

We've already been to sunglass hut but is there somewhere else we should look? DH and I are looking to buy nice ($150+) new sunglasses for each of us. I know Macy's sells some but they are the same ones we found at sunglass hut. I like how at sunglass hut you can see so many designers and styles in one place so I guess I'm wondering if there is another place like that out there that we don't know about and should visit? Thanks!

Re: Where to find nice sunglasses?

  • Maybe Saks 5th Ave in downtown MPLS?

I don't know...I can't bring myself to spend more than $15 on sunglasses, because I constantly lose, break, or scratch them.  Except the $3 pair I've had since college.  Those are still in the map pocket of my car.  Go figure.

  • My FIL works for an optometrist, and me and my husband get all our sunglasses there (he has a small business in downtown St Paul). They can adjust them to fit your face, and you can get prescription (if you have bad eyes) or nonprescription (I have great eyesight). Mine cost about $120, and hubby's were more like $300. Another plus is anytime we need glass cleaner or a new case, they give it to us for free.

Any eye doctor/glasses supplier would have them.

  • What about Fossil?  I know they have a store at the MOA.

Or places like REI or Cabelas?

Like PP mentioned, I also don't spend a lot on sunglasses because I always tend to lose or scratch them!

  • Also, just wanted to suggest if you have vision insurance you can use your glasses coverage for sunglasses. My husband had Lasik a few years ago and got some nice Ray Bans with our vision coverage. Just FYI in case you weren't aware and have coverage. Happy shopping!

  • My old Fossil sunglasses broke in about 10 minutes.

Are you looking for a certain designer? That might be easier to search for.

Burberry, Prada, Guess, Kors, Oakley, Ray Ban, etc... are all going to be over $150 and can be found at Sunglass Hut - you just have to find the right store with the right stock. You can also google the designer you're looking for and then search for the store they're stocked at.

DH has gone through 2 pairs of glasses from the Fossil Store at MOA and both have had issues where the screws popped out.  Those suckers are teeny so once it fell out of the glasses, they were a total loss.  The first pair was replaced on warranty and the second, DH caught the screw wigging out before it was totally out and got it tightened back in.  He'll never buy another pair there again - ever!
