s/o bertos and moving: Poll

The post below got me thinking....

BESIDES family and friends,

What would you miss most about moving out of Northern California? (whether that be the Bay, Sac, or CV)

  • I would miss the weather (hearing my SILs talk about MI and NY winters do NOT make me jealous).

I would miss having Tahoe so close.

I would miss Jack's and Dos Coyotes, lol.

I would miss having a fence around my yard. ;)

  • Since I'm hoping to move, I've been thinking a lot about this...

    - the landscape (it's freakin' beautiful here!)
    - proximity to Lake Tahoe
    - wine country
    - moderate weather
    - great food (both in grocery stores and in restaurants)
    - the culture

  • The ease, plethora and availability of fresh produce! It just isn't the same in a lot of other places.

    • The weather for sure. I feel for some of my friends experiencing a heat wave back East.
    • Being close to the beach, Tahoe, camping, and casinos
    • Being on the Coast. I have issues with living in state that is surrounded by other states. I need to be by an ocean.
    • Close to Vegas (driving or flying)
    • The culture

  • In no particular order:
    - the proximity to the beach, countryside, and mountain
    - all the activities (summer festivals, music concerts, museums, etc)
    - the diversity of food cuisines
    - the availability of foreign food products

  • Well, I did just move out of Nor Cal so but am still in CA. I miss the weather since it's warmer here and I prefer cooler weather (although it does get too warm in the Bay Area sometimes, too). L.A. is just not a pretty city at all. Cities in the Bay Area have a lot more charm, SF, Oakland, SJ, etc... There's more trees (than where we are at least), less smog. I do feel like I'm in a desert here and wish we were closer to the water. I hope we can move to a prettier, more coastal part soon.
  • I would miss the weather.  I like the cool of the fall and winter.
  • I would miss the mild summers and general lack of humidity.

I would also miss In and Out (if we'd move, we'd go back home to NY where there aren't any).

I would miss the fact that farmer's markets are on convenient days.

    I would miss wine country.

  • it's been nearly 3 years since we said goodbye to the bay, california, and the USA in general....and to be quite honest, there isn't that much i miss.  but the one thing i miss is the huge selection and easy availability of goods.  sometimes i wish i could just run to target or costco to grab things that i know would be there.
  • I moved out of CA 8 years ago and I honestly don't miss much other than friends and family. I love where we live and feel like I have everything that I need here.

If we were to move from here, I would miss NYC. I would miss the proximity to Europe and so many fabulous cities like  DC, Boston, and Philly. I would miss the lower cost of living, the fresh local farms and the seasons. As much as I don't like winter, I do love the first snow in December. I love fall and spring and I'm even adjusting to the humidity.

If it weren't for my family and all of you, I may never come back to CA. :)

Good food . The beach the weather. Diversity of people I was really weirder out when I visited some other places to only see black people and white people, I live having all types of people and thoughts around me.

  • Definitely the weather and the relative lack of traffic (compared to SoCal, for example). I also just feel comfortable here and know my way around, you know?
  • I really miss seeing a blue sky most days. It doesn't have to be warm, I just want to see a blue sky and the sun.

Yes! This! I didn't realize I felt this way till I read your post, but that is exactly how I feel.
