My 5 year old is OBSESSED with Angry Birds. I made all the plushies for his birthday party this year (the theme was angry birds, of course) and used my silhouette to make custom AB invitations. I promised him yesterday that I'd make him a new pillowcase to take on vacation with us, so I got up this morning and set out to do that. Once I got the pieces for the applique cut out, I realized it was screaming for something else. They really WANTED to be a bag. So, I used this tutorial here: http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2010/08/back-to-school-free-let's-go-backpack-pattern-tutorial/
Here's the backpack. He is in LOVE with it, and I am pretty crazy about it too. It's headed out to Vegas and SoCal with us this week. I know it's going to get dirty, and I might cry when that happens!
Re: AW: Angry Birds Backpack
I will be the first to admit that I live under a rock without an iphone so I just don't get the Angry Birds stuff, but...
That is ADORABLE! What a great job you did! I love the shape of the backpack and you did a great job on construction. I have a feeling you will be stopped by other Angry Bird lovers asking where you got it!

I also do not "get" the angry bird concept - not having an iphone or ipad has its downsides.
I love the colors and the detail on the beak!
You will see the most impressed faces when you respond that you made it!
I am an Angry Birds addict (my partner has it on her droid).
I want this backpack for myself. For realz. I LOVE IT!

Love it! I so love this! It look like you bought it. I bet he was super excited.
And for all the ladies saying they don't play Angry Birds because they don't have an iphone....you can play it through Google.
