Fabric Softener

Any recommendations on a fabric softener that works well and smells good? It has been a while since I have used a store bought softener because I tried the vinegar route, but my towels are just not getting soft. What do you use?

Re: Fabric Softener

  • We use blue sparkle scent Snuggle with a bounce ball - I use the same kind of dryer sheets. I've been so excited about how soft our towels are, but I actually didn't use fabric softener until recently. (I'm not exactly a domestic queen, lol) The last couple of overnight guests we've had have commented on how good the sheets smell, too. :)
  • We also use dryer balls and I sometimes use vinegar as a softener. Our clothes are plenty soft, but they don't have as nice a smell as if I used dryer sheets or softeners. I'll have to look into the scented dryer sticks. I haven't heard of them before.
  • You shouldn't use traditional fabric softener w/ towels anyway, it makes them lose their absorbency.  Are they being put in the drier right away?

I did not know that, thanks. Yes, I put them in right after they are washed,

Liquid fabric softeners do interfere with towel absorbency. For added scent Downy has come out with a new product. http://www.downy.com/en-US/product-line/scent-booster.jspx

I have not tried it yet. For softness dryer sheets can be used.

    Hope to help!

  • I didn't know liquid fabric softener made towels less absorbent. I guess I will stop doing that!

  • Have you tried Method dryer cloths? They have pretty rave reviews.
