Places to eat in Chicago

I am going to Chicago this weekend for a work trip. Anyone have any recommendations for places to eat? TIA

Re: Places to eat in Chicago

  • You will not go wrong with a place called Chilam Bilam in Boystown.  Look it up, it's run by an awesome chef that couldn't afford to build out a huge restaurant, the food is incredible.  It's BYOB, so bring wine, beer, whatever and they will chill it for you.  It's inexpensive, my cousin and I ate lots of plates and dessert for $55.  It's small plates and just so, so good.  I kid you not, you will not regret it.  It's very "big city" and quaint!
  • Lou Malnati's (deep dish) or Pizano's (thin crust) for pizza.

    Su Casa for Mexican.

  • Bistro 110!  http://www.bistro110restaurant.com/

I also have a lot of other recs but they're not in the downtown area, and that's where I'm assuming you might be looking..............

  • Depending on what you want to spend and who you are going with, Dh and I really liked Frontara Grill and a little place called Avec.

  • The Weber Grill-fun atmosphere, great beer!  It's on State St.

  • Chicago Pizza and Oven Ginder Co. is awesome. It's a mainly locals place that we hit regularly when we lived there. It is cash only though, but is delish. It's on Clark and is pretty easy to miss. Very casual and not crazy pricey.

An area chain that's good for a quickie lunch is Portillo's. I so miss Weber Grill, if you go there they have the best mashed potatoes ever!

  • Oh, this place is SO awesome!!! Very fun, the food is fantastic and the Sangria is sssssoooooo good :)http://www.cafebabareeba.com/chicago

I love Gino's East Deep Dish pizza (beware you will only be able to eat one piece its so big!!) and shaws crabhouse had some pretty awesome seafood!! Morton's is great for steak...expensive but family style sides and it is pretty cool when you pick every piece of food they will prepare for you!
  • If you looking for a place for work to "treat" you... try Nomi at the Park Hyatt.   It's right next to the watertower... http://www.hyatt.com/gallery/nomi/

It's pricey, but if work is paying...go for it!

Also - Catch a drink at the Hancock tower..

  • I would agree with what everyone else has said. :) For pizza I like Lou Malnati's or Gino's East. Gino's you can find in the city and burbs, Lous is mostly in the burbs. Both are fantastic. I'm not a fan of Pizzeria Uno (or Due) though. If you are in need of breakfast, I would rec'd finding a place called Walker Bros Pancake House. http://www.walkerbros.net/ They have several locations in the northern burbs and are completely worth whatever you have to drive to get to one. Their pancakes are TO DIE FOR. Also, check out metromix.com - they have a lot of things to do, places to eat suggestions. Enjoy your trip and tell my hometown that I miss it!!!
