Trustworthy car repairs in Herndon/Sterling/Ashburn area?

We're at the point where if my car needs another $1K to keep it going, we're going to be considering its replacement car. God bless my 170,000-mile 1997 Corolla for taking me this far.

In the meantime, it needs help, and I'm side-eyeing my usual place after hearing unsolicited reports from my neighbors. So I want to go somewhere else first before I go back to them for second opinion.

Where do you go for general car repairs? Anywhere within 10-15 miles of Herndon would be nice.

Thanks!

  • John SWEARS by Champion on 606, near Shaw Road. They do everything on his truck and are affordable.

  • We like Herndon Auto Care on Elden.  They're super helpful.

We love Sterling Automotive off of sterling blvd, a couple lights up from 606 and sterling blvd. they do great work, honest, fast, and they stand by their work. In fact, my car is there today:)
  • Curry's auto.  They are great, and they have never taken advantage of me when I've brought my car in without my husband (who also works in the car industry and knows what things "should" cost.).  http://www.currysauto.com/dulles.htm this is in Dulles, and there is one in Chantilly.  They are great and really trustworthy.

  • Ashburn Tire and Auto in Ashburn Village is great.  My whole family has been going there for about 6-7 years and they are always honest - they also do really fast work and are good about scheduling.

  • Hello all! Thanks so much for the recommendations. I've written them all down for future reference.

I went w/Pam's people first since I see her so often IRL if my car breaks down she knows she's in trouble, LOL! As it turns out Rudy at Champion on 606 was great, explained everything well, and gave me several options. We ended up using their diagnostic services but going to our usual tire people to finish up the job (they were out of stock on my tires).

    Again, thanks so much everyone!
