As previously posted, I submitted my resume for a job that I CANNOT stop thinking about. I received an auto response stating they got my resume. I then sent a list of my references to HR on June 13. I got a response back from HR saying "Thank you so much". I was planning on doing the traditional follow up a week later, but now that I sent my references I know they have my resume and references.
This is the first job that I have actually run across that I actually want and not just applying for to get a pay raise. Is there anything I can do now or should I just take a chill pill and relax? I don't want to keep bothering HR as it stated in the ad "no phone calls."
Re: Is there anything I can do?
Did they ask you for your references or did you just send them proactively?
Assuming that this was all done electronically and you have an email address, I think it is ok to email back and ask for a status update on the position.

Definitely don't reach out again to HR until then contact you. However, I also think there are things you can do to be proactive. When I was in full on search mode, whenever I found a job I really wanted, I looked at LinkedIn to find out if I had any 1st or 2nd connections within that company. If I had 1st connections, I asked them to put in a good word for me. If I had second connections, I would ask them to forward my resume to the person they knew within the company. I found that the more people within the company who know your name and that you're applying, the better.
But overall, you've just got to wait and see if they call you for an interview. Remember, in this economy, hiring is taking much longer. Companies often need to take their time.
I think I will just chill out and wait for them to contact me. If it's meant to be it will happen.
I know it's kind of weird I went ahead and sent my references without being asked. One of my references told me she was on one of the company's boards, but she could not reach out and let them know since she works for the same company I currently do. Sending references with her listed was the only way to let them know there was a connection.
Thanks for all the advice!
