Wearing baby forward facing

Re: Wearing baby forward facing

  • Hey Pam - what carrier do you have to do a forward facing?  I'm just curious as I had a hard time finding any that do that.......I think the Ergo just does a front, back and hip carry, right?

  • See, I could just be that clueless. I have an Ergo... off to google!

  • I read somewhere online the ergo doesn't face forward because it isn't recommended to have your child facing forward. Don't know why since so many other carriers do have the option.

  • I think the main rule for forward facing is if they can hold their own head up. We also waited until she was tall enough (so her face wasn't hitting the carrier) and until she was super interested in watching what was going on around her. When I want her to nap in it, I face her inwards. We use Moby and a Phil and Ted Pepe, so I'm not sure about the Ergo. ETA: and I only wear her facing out around the house. If we're out and about, she faces in - they can get overstimulated forward facing and can't turn away.

  • I just went and registered over the weekend and I put this one on our registry:

"In our famous BABYBJORN Baby Carrier Original, your child is safe and close to you, while your hands are free. The carrier is comfortable and easy to use and provides excellent support for your baby?s back and head and guarantees that his/her legs and arms are in a physiologically correct position. When your baby is a little older and has a stronger neck, the neck rest can be folded down so that the child can face forward and look around."

This is what we have. Nate started to really like forward facing at 6 months - he was only content to face me if it was naptime at that point. Before then, he didn't seem to care which way he was.

  • I have the Ergo, and just watched the DVD. Front, back, and Side saddle positions, but no front-facing. Only the Bjorn has front facing.
