OB/GYN rec in or near Dtwn Mpls?

Hi Ladies,

DH and I are TTC and I need to switch OB/GYNs.  I had a pretty bad experience with my current Dr. and it's making it hard for me to find another Dr. and trust them.  I'd like to find a new Dr, establish myself as a new patient and meet withthe Dr. prior to getting pregnant in case we have trouble TTC - it'd be nice to have someone to call.  I am looking in or close to downtown Minneapolis. If you love your Dr., will you pass along their name and tell me a bit about why they're great, please?

Bonus: If anyone has particular experience with a practitioner at John Haugen's office or Andrea Messina, I'd love to hear your story.

Thank you so much!

  • I always rave about Dr. Lisa Shakerin at Oakdale OB/GYN.  She sees patients in Robbinsdale.  I used to hate going for my yearly exam.  I am so happy to have found her because she is gentle and takes time to sit and talk to me. When I see her she goes through her questions that she has to ask me, and then stops typing, and takes her hands off her computer and says, "what questions do you have for me". She answers all my questions, as crazy as they are.  Dr. Shakerin is very warm and friendly.  It doesn't hurt that she also been awarded the Top Doctor Award from MPLS/St. Paul Magazine.

Is it wrong to love your OB/GYN?

  • Thank you so much for the reply!  I will look into her for sure!
  • Associates in Women's Health is awesome. They have a location downtown in the Medical Arts building, as well as Edina. http://www.awhpa.com/
  • Strangisj, thank you!  I was looking at them!  Is there a particular practitioner there that you like?

  • I really like the Fairview Riverside Women's Clinic in Riverside Mpls. I have seen Dr. Nagel (male) and Dr. Ou-Yang (female) and found them to be very easy to talk to and open to what I had to say. I normally see the midwives at that clinic and have seen all of them. If you are interested in midwives, I love Janis Keil Day. She is smart, to the point, and very supportive.

  • I go to Cindy Lodemeier, but I believe she only works out of the Edina clinic.. She's fantastic and so genuine! I really like her! I've gone there for years (as well as my mom) and have never had a negative thing about them! Highly recommended!
