Its been forever since I've flown domestic. I'm flying on Friday at 5ish. How early do you think I should get to the airport? I'm not checking anything I will just have a carry on bag.
Re: Airport question
ditto this.

You don't cheat and go to the security at North Terminal if the regular one is crowded?
Oh yes my answer would indeed be different if I didn't live ITP regarding timing.
I guess not! I go wherever my husband leads me (legally blind, white cane, crowds, yada yada). For all I know, he may not know about the north terminal cheat.
Granted, we also allow time for any security issues. DH has a lot of metal in his legs that were once a constant problem.
ETA - he's actually missed more than one flight because of his legs, though none recently.
that would be frustrating!
Mer - hush! Quit giving away all the timesaving ATL airport secrets!!!
I don't mess around when it comes to airport security and flying. I would losemyshit if I missed my flight because I didn't build in enough time into my itinerary!
I'd get there by 3:30 at the latest, but that's just me.
Call me Kat =^..^=
Thanks!
I'm taking Marta, hopping on in Midtown so I don't think it should take me long. I will already be checked in with delta so I hope everything will go quickly.
I get there early to hit up On the Border in Terminal T. Girl needs a Margartita before her flights.
Adventures of A Girl and Her Apron
I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I was able to get to my gate. My flight was at 2:45, and I got to the airport at 12:30 because I hadn't flown in a while either and was paranoid about something happening. I didn't check bags either--just carry on. I think that really helps. We even stood in line to get H a gate pass and had plenty of time.
I don't quite remember but I think we stood in line for gate pass for maybe 15 minutes (which was the longest part of the process) and it took 5 more minutes to get the pass. Walking to security = 5 minutes. Security line took maybe 10 minutes. Getting through security took maybe 5-10 minutes. Took the train to our concourse (walking to train, waiting for train, riding in train) = 10 minutes. Walking to gate took maybe 5 minutes because of having to weave in and out of people and we were at the end of the hall. I believe I got to the gate around 1:30ish.
So I had to wait a while, but I don't mind being there early so I don't have to rush. I can grab some coffee and people watch and just relax before the flight. I probably could have left a lot later--I'll keep it in mind next time. Also, I flew on a Sunday. That might have something to do with it.
