Tuesday Accountability

Im having a hard time getting this last 10 pounds off to get to my goal weight and it's making me crazy. I know its all my fault though. I'm still tracking, but I'm eating junk within my limits. I'm so worried I'm going to gain next week in the Keys. We eat and drink like Kings and Queens all week long. Steak, lobster, apps, and lots of alcohol everyday. I'm really going to have to watch myself! I'll just dive everyday to burn the calories and maybe take long walks on the beach. Stick out tongue

  • I'm at least back down to the weight I was prior to our hot-dog-hamburger week up north. And I'm doing sets of contraction-type crunches daily, which I think are helping the pp ab weirdness. Could just be in my head though.
  • I did well until Sunday with eating/working out... DH's bday was Sun, so we did brunch at cracker barrel with his friends and had chilis for dinner. Then last night I was going to have a mental breakdown so I had a beer after eating firehouse (I had it on wheat bread and asked them to go light on the mayo... that has to count for something, right?). Idk where the scale is at the house where I am this week, but I'm going to bet I stayed the same weight-wise.

  • I've been stagnant with my pregnancy weight gain for a few weeks, I'm around 15-16 lbs. total, but my stomach is still growing so the doctor isn't worried.

I can't freaking wait to get back to exercising, especially strength training. I feel so flabby.

  • I went up 0.5 lbs this week, boo. I'm know these things fluctuate and I'm sure I can keep making progress, but it's still a little disappointing. I did drink a heck of a lot of wine though! :)

And now, for a small vent about my ILs. Not that I'm saying this week is their fault, but we went over there for lunch on Sunday and they seem to completely ignore the fact that I'm making changes in my eating. I don't know if it's forgetfulness, ignorance, apathy, or what.  For lunch they grilled some meat, which is fine, but every other food they served was a carb. Come on! Can't we have at least one veggie? For dinner, they suggested pizza but we ended up leaving early. It's not that I think they should totally change what they make because of me, but it's frustrating to not hardly have anything to eat. It'd be rude to serve only meat to a vegetarian, right? Sorry to soon so whiny, it's been like this for a while but this time just really got to me. Usually they're such considerate people.

I struggle with this with DH's family too. I've started asking to bring a side just to make sure I have something healthy to eat - typically roasted broccoli with sea salt & EVOO or steamed green beans.

They are VERY southern. Their idea of a healthy vegetable is creamed peas or corn on the cob slathered in butter. & salad? is always topped with creamy, fattening dressing.

Sample menu from last family get together:

    Fried Chicken
    French fries
    Creamed peas
    Coleslaw
    Gravy
    Biscuits
    Cobbler
    Ice cream

    Hmm

ETA: Don't get me wrong, all of that food is delicious, but I cannot eat like that (without gaining 500lbs). I feel like total *** if I don't eat any veggies.

  • My IL's are the exact same way, so it's not surprising they both have high BP, over weight, diabetic, etc. I just bring my own food every time we go there, or have a huge salad with veggie proteins for lunch because I know it will be a horrible carb fest.

Last time we were there: Ribs, bbq chicken wings, pulled bork, buns, grilled corn, potatoes au gratin, bread, canned green beans with bacon in the crock pot. Seriously, there was nothing there I could/would eat besides bread and corn. I bought a box of veggie burgers and keep them in their freezer, but yeah, it does suck. However, they've always eaten this way and there's no changing them, so I just bring a side dish I know I'll eat and don't expect them to ever have food for me.

  • I weigh myself on Mondays (if I weighed myself today I'd probably cry) and I was down another 1.6 pounds. Yay! On the downside, I ate my weight in spinach and pizza dip last night. Oh, and not to mention the ridiculous amount of wine I drank. I pretty much blew all my extra points for the week in one night so now I have to be really good all week. DH and I were planning to get sushi/hibachi on Saturday so we'll see how this week goes.

  • I'm up 17 pounds at 40.5 weeks, which is fine by me.  Looking forward to this baby coming so I can get back to running though, I've been itching to go for a few weeks.

  • I've seriously fallen off the bandwagon for a few weeks. I have and old whiplash injury that likes to act up, so I missed a week at the gym before the IL's were here. And of course, they HAVE to eat dessert every night, etc. while they're here, and my self control only goes so far. I'm only up a pound, but 5 total since April, so I'm kicking myself back into gear as soon as I can work this neck crap out!
