seller's nerves

we FINALLY had our first house showing last night. the quick feedback from last night was showed excellently, house is really great and the buyers are interested but need to research the neighborhood. our agent is going to call and actually talk to their agent today.

BUT MY HEART SANK. i am actually scared to move, is this normal?

also keep your fingers crossed. we are probably going to drop the price again next week.

Re: seller's nerves

  • Totally normal....I cried when I first saw strange people going into our house (we waited in the park at the end of our block, when we had showings). We still miss our old house since so many memories were made there. But, it was totally worth it and we're happier in our new place.

    Good luck!

i half wanted to take the baby monitor and sit in the car or pocket park outside, but i was like WHAT IF THEY SAY MEAN THINGS.

We still have not babyproofed and Emma has been crawling for months.  We haven't needed to.  I would wait and see if he gets into things.

  • Totally normal!  We babyproofed as he got into things. Not prior. Once he was moving I kind of followed him around for a few days figuring out what to change and what to move.

I saw on Bethenny Frankel's show this clip in which the woman recommended not letting her child play with pots and pans and xyz, and abc because baby will see it and climb on your stove..... it was a bit too extreme!

  • I'm mostly worried about installing baby gates. Seems pointless.
  • I have no doubt when we go to sell our house, I will cry like a little biotch.

With all the work you guys do/Did I thought for sure it was a forever home. This place has been my longest home since my childhood home so it feels hard.

Can you just get tension gates? They're pointless til God forbid he takes an unfortunate tumble. I had this conversation with big lar last night about anchoring the tv. He didn't think a 40 something inch tv could kill a young baby. I told him I didn't want to find out if he was right or wrong.

We have tension gates from when our one cat was a kitten. So bottom of the stairs that's the plan. I think we are going to put a table in front of the landing to the basement stairs. For upstairs I think we will do tension gate at his door but he is never left alone in the bedrooms anyway. I mean it's rare he us alone but what Ifs are scary.
  • We only have tension gates. They've worked just fine through crawling, pulling up to stand, and now walking.

  • The first time around when it was just us and Charlie, I was nervous/anxious about selling.  That feeling left really fast after showing #20 within two weeks. The second time around when Sam was here I was all business, ready to beg anyone to take that place off our hands.

No lie, some crazy chick I went to baby boot camp with was going to PAY someone to come in and baby proof her house.  The extent of our baby proofing was a lock on the cabinet under the kitchen sink, one on the cabinet under the bathroom sink and a tension gate at the stairs

  • haha eagles. yeah the only stairs i am worried about our the basement stairs they are open to the floor plan and don;t have a straight area to put a tension gate. we use to have it on an angle and our 4 pound cat at the time could knock it off.

OK, what type of child proof lock do you have? My genious children have figured out how to Ninja chop (literally) their way into this cabinet.

  • It was from BRU, it had hooks on both ends and a button that you had to press while pulling on both ends.  It was difficult for me to get it undone!

We don't have anything anymore because now they don't even try

It's totally common out here to hire a babyproofing company. We have done nothing to babyproof-we have the "funzone" aka "baby jail" so Max can play while I do stuff in the kitchen and when he's exploring on the floor, one of us gets on the floor with him. I am thinking we need to get some sort of foam for all of the corners-we have a heavy trunk that we use as a coffee table and he's always coming super close to whacking his head on the corners.

  • i was told not to get my hopes up but we might have an offer coming our way. that being said they felt like we were overpriced. which is fine. what we want is 16,000 less then what our house is currently up for and it is about to be dropped a bit no matter what next week.

so good thoughts people good thoughts.

also why were are at positive lachute thoughts, i have a job interview for a pt job tomorrow. you know.

The next door neighbor of my friend's job is:

Baby proofer to the stars. He seriously goes to celebrity's houses and baby proofs the homes.

  • Good luck - hope it sells quickly and you get that job!

At first, I was sad about moving from our first place together (mostly b/c of the ginornous bedroom closets in that little condo, haha).  I got over that very quickly when we found our house, which we were just going to look at "for fun" since our condo hadn't been listed yet.  I immediately fell in love and began decorating in my head and picturing having more that 4 people over, which got me really excited and got me in the "we need to sell this place pronto" mindset.

  • Good luck with everything Lachute!!!

Eagles, the babylock you described sounds like the one my SIL put on all the cabinet doors down the shore.  I could not for the life of me get that damn thing off.

  • no actual offer yet. bummer.

but it gives some hope. apparently the realtor went on on how nice our house is decorated.

we found house we kind of like today. i really like it, it's huge though 2500 sq feet 5 bedrooms, i am going to have a billion kids to fill it.
