HomeGoods

I've heard great things about this store...I went to the one in Broomall and wasn't very impressed. Maybe the stuff just wasn't my style. The stuff seemed very knick-knacky and old-lady to me. West Elm-type stuff is more my style.

Has anyone been to the HomeGoods in St. Davids off Lancaster Ave? Is that one any good???

Erbur78 already told me about the one in Collegeville, and that one is supposed to be good.

Re: HomeGoods

  • I can't help with the ones out your way - I go to the one in Oxford Valley.  But I love love love the store.  I will however say that they get new products every single day, so you may have just hit an off day?  Their inventory changes drastically week to week.
  • I was to the one in Marlton a couple of years ago.  I wasn't all that impressed either.  The store was just too packed with merchandise.

Yeah you're right...sometimes I go to TJMaxx and spend a fortune, and other days I find nothing. I may give the Broomall one another try.

  • I went to the Broomall one and hated it!  It was completely disorganized and crammed with crap, I couldn't spend more than 10 minutes in there.

I know exactly what you are talking about because the first time I went to the one in Willow Grove, I noticed they had a ton of glassware (like plates and vases) that looked like they belonged in an old lady's house.  But they do rotate their stock regularly and I saw much better merchandise the last time I was there.

Speaking of West Elm, I just got my catalog yesterday and I want to buy everything in it and redecorate my entire house.

i put the catalogs right in the recycling bin. because i always want way to much from west elm.

  • I love homegoods and agree with others about the one in Broomall.  I usually go to the one in Blue Bell or Collegeville.  It depends on the day if they have anything good and they usually have two days during the week that they restock (or so I'm told).

  • Thanks...I won't give up on HomeGoods just yet.

I'm on the West Elm site at least once a day. If I could do my whole house in that store, I would.

You should call them and cancel the catalog.

  • I've been the the one in Radnor and have had luck there.  There is a TJ Maxx on the other side of the building that I've found a ton of stuff in too.

Typically I do best in Home Goods (or a store like that) when I don't go in there for anything specific, but instead just go in to wander and see what they have.  I get too frustrated if I go looking for something particular and have to sort through their mess to find what I want - especially home decor).  I know that's not practical for everyone - especially if you have kids or work year-round :)  But I would never go to HG if I am desperate for something that I need right away.  For me, that kind of stuff will always be a work in progress.  I'd rather slowly find something that works perfectly than buy stuff just to finish a room and regret it later.  We moved into our house over 2 years ago and I just bought 2-3 more things at a HG last week to add to the kitchen - which was the first room I decorated when we moved in.

  • Ok, I love love love Homegoods. I think it's hit or miss based on the area and how clean they keep it.  And it's just like TJ's or Marshalls, they stock it with items based on the area.  So the one in St. David's is EXCELLENT imo, their TJ's is great there and filled with higher-end things.  There's a homegoods in central PA we stop at when we're out there which is also great because they keep it super organized compared to out here where everything gets heavy foot traffic.

  • On the topic of awesome catalogues/websites for home stuff.. Anyone ever check out frontgate.com?  I'm obsessed with their outdoor stuff.  Granted, I can't afford anything they sell.. around Christmas they will have some pretty decent 50% off type coupons which helps!

I wish I could spend that much on outdoor furniture!

I recently found this home decor site and I'm obsessed. www.inhabitliving.com

  • Oh wow.  Now I really want to find a room to be able to do this to:

  • Ohhh HomeGoods. Don't give up on her just yet. I agree that the one in Broomall isn't great however I did once find (and buy) a 6 foot round, 100% wool, area rug there for $125.00. The one in St. Davids is bigger and better organized. It is my go-to place for new pillows, sheets, white dishes, table linens and seasonal decorations. I also like to look through their food section and pick out an oil, seasoning or some other type of fun new product I haven't tried. And, of course, I'll get the good vanilla extract there. The company that owns HomeGoods also owns TJMaxx so while there is a TJMaxx right by the HomeGoods in St. Davids, it has been my experience that housewares section in the TJMaxx is lacking. My thought has always been that with the two stores so close, they focus more on the clothing in the TJMaxx because if people need something home related, they can go just around to the other side of the building to the HomeGoods.

  • I really like the homegoods in Moorestown.  It's connected to a Marshalls directly next to it, so you can do both in one trip.  I agree with the others it's definitely hit or miss but I've found some cute stuff there.  I stopped going there if I don't need anything because the compulsion to buy is too strong.
  • I love HomeGoods but I usually frequent the one in Princeton the most and then the Oxford Valley one. I didn't think the Princeton one is that cluttered. I agree with the other girls and HG can be very hit or miss but at the same time, I feel like a lot of stores are like that. Old Navy is another example for me. Sometimes I can go in there and get a ton of stuff. Other times I can't find one single thing to purchase.

Ditto this. I spend a small fortune when I go. I did most of the nursery from hg. Love.
