Re: Poll - Panic Attacks

  • lol@ wack-a-doo. I expect that one will win out here. :P

  • No, I'm less panicky and more murderous-ragey.

  • I used to get mild ones once in awhile, but I haven't in really long time.
  • I voted no, but I don't agree with the wackadoo part.

I did live with a girl who had them (I think that's what it was).  She would be sitting on the couch watching daytime tv (that's what she did, while making her makeup and hair perfect for hours) and all of a sudden she couldn't catch her breath and was all sort of clausterphobic.  I would try to get her to just go outside with me.  Just out the front door.  Change her scenery.  But it was like she couldn't.  It was very frusterating to watch and not be able to help.  All she wanted was Wellbutrin but didn't have insurance.  When our lease ended she moved south.  I hope she's gotten help.  That seemed really awful to go through.

  • No, but I also don't agree w/ the wacka-doo part. I definitely think they are very real.

I don't get panicky, but I get anxious and overwhelmed sometimes.

  • I have been having them very, very frequently. I am on medication for them and I have "techniques" that are supposed to help me relax. But nothing seems to work.
  • THIS.

Then maybe you need to see a therapist.  No one should live like that - esp. since your life is seemingly "normal."

  • I used to get them sometimes when I was younger.  It was scary.  One time I had one so bad when I was supposed to give a public speech in middle school (I won an essay contest and part of the next round was to attend a special dinner where the winners from each area read their essay aloud).  I got so bad that my parents made me stay home.  Now I present in front of groups of up to 1,000 people with no problems other than a few butterflies in my tummy sometimes right before I go on stage.  Crazy!
