Can we share dumb pet peeves? I just want to rant
Just a petty one, but it irritates the hell out of me when I see people watering their lawns AND the sidewalk. I will grant that I don't water my grass at all (I consider it pointless - when it rains it's green, when it's dry it's less green - big deal). But that said, are you really so lazy that you can't adjust your sprinkler so you aren't wasting water on the sidewalk and making people walk around it? Most of the time, they aren't trying towater that strip of grass by the road either. It bugs me. Stupid, but it bugs me.
Re: Can we share dumb pet peeves? I just want to rant
We live in a townhome association and I always laugh when it's raining and the sprinklers are going off. Like, really? There isn't some sort of sensor or something that could tell that it's raining? C'mon...
Yes, there is. We have a rain sensor for our sprinkler system so it will not go off if it's raining. It works. There's no excuse for watering the lawn in the rain!

I have so many pet peeves, I barely know where to begin. I'll just list the two things that have already bothered me today:
1) People who throw cigarette butts out their car window. That's littering! If you want to continue with your smoking habit, fine, but keep the butts in your car. The side of the road is not an ashtray!
2) People who walk their dogs off leash. It's not safe. I don't care how well-trained you think your dog is, why take the chance that something unexpected could happen? There are leash laws for a reason! I'm even more irritated by the people who carry a leash in their hand, unattached to the dog. Why? That's like keeping a condom in your pocket instead of actually using it while having sex. Having a safety measure close to you does not mean it's helpful, you have to actually use it!

I absolutely hate it when people hawk up a chunk of nasty-ness and spit it out onto the sidewalk. One of these times, I am going to turn around and puke on them. Just the sound of it makes me queasy let alone seeing it - or stepping in it! Heck - even thinking about it makes me a little green around the gills.
And overly perfuming. I work in an open office with cubes - if I can smell that you walked down the corridor a half hour ago, you've got too much perfume on.
Ugh this is so irritating! We live across the street from a park and people will drive up, let their dogs out to poop (whilst staying in the car), call them back, and leave.
I can't stand it! There was a lady in town who started a pet sitting business and we were considering trying her out. We saw her do the same thing at the park and decided we wouldn't be using her services.

Why would someone do that? I would be so confused - and annoyed - if I saw that.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
Drivers who don't use the "slower traffic move right" rule. I've seriously thought about getting a bumper sticker that says that and putting it on my driver-side door. If you can read this, either you're passing me and you agree with my driving or I'm passing you and you need to learn.
Have you ever driven into MN from another state? Everyone else is cruising along in the right lane with a few passers on the left. Then *BAM* ten miles from the state line the whole road gets clogged up by two Buicks pacing each other.
Amen.
Things like this make all dog owners look bad, when many of us are much more responsible than that.
Recently, when I saw this happen while walking my dog in my neighborhood, I actually handed the owner a plastic bag, smiled, and said in a very friendly voice "obviously, you don't want to pick up after your dog, but I really don't want to pick up after your dog either, so it would be great if you'd take care of it. Thanks for helping to keep my neighborhood clean!" She picked up the poop, but was not happy with me. This wasn't even in a park, she let her dog poop on someone's yard (not her own yard) and didn't pick it up!

When people stand over your shoulder and wait for you to get off the phone, when you do that it just makes me want to stay on the phone longer!
My pet related one- people who hit their dogs to discipline them. If they went potty in the house it isn't because they wanted to make you mad, it's because your lazy butt didn't take them out.
My long standing pet peeve is clipping fingernails in public. One of my old co-workers did it once a week and when I started my new job I thought I had escaped it. Nope! Someone here clips too! And not just a hangnail, it's all of them. I occasionally need to clip a broken nail, I get that. Not all of them! The noise grates me. When I was serving I encountered many people who did this - out to eat! WHY.
This one is a big one for me. Unless someone says PLEASE leave your shoes on, I always take mine off. I never assume!
