I just got a job offer, yay!
Literally 5 min before I got the call with the offer, I set up another interview for tomorrow afternoon. I'm 99% sure I'm going to accept the offer I just want to review the written offer first. Should I cancel tomorrow's interview?
Also, the offer is just under where I wanted to be salary-wise, by $2,000. However, there is a bonus potential of about 10% annually. I have never negotiated salary before, but $2,000 isn't a lot to ask for is it? I won't need their medical coverage either, so could I use that as a point as well?
Thanks, I haven't been through a big job hunt like this before so I want to make sure I don't undersell myself.
Re: Job offer! and a couple questions
If you're sure you're going to accept this position, I see nothing wrong with calling the other place and canceling the interview because you have an offer.
I would ask for $2K more. The worst they can say is no. I wouldn't bring anything else to the conversation, just ask for $2K more.

I would go to the interview. I don't want to be the "Debbie Downer", but I just came off a huge 7 month job search as well and during that time went through the awful experience of having an offer rescinded due to internal issues at the company. If something like that were to on the off chance happen to you, I'd absolutely hate for you to have cancelled another perfectly viable interview. Once you accept the offer and sign that letter, then you can let the other company know.
On negotiation, my dear cousin who is a high powered corporate recruiter gave me a formula I find very helpful. For recruited candidates, you can negotiate 15-20%. For applied (non recruited) candidates, a 10% negotiation is standard. So I would think $2,000 would be fine. If you're really looking for $2,000 though, I'd ask for maybe $3,000 or $4,000 more just in case they "meet you in the middle."
Good luck!

I have been in both situations.
1 - I negotiated an extra $2000 before accepting a job offer. They gave it to me. That's not much to ask for.
2 - I had an interview already lined up when I got the offer for my current job. Since I accepted it, there was no reason to go. I sent an email to cancel stating I just accepted another offer. I would only cancel if you have accepted the offer.
