I just read on the HRP board how you failed your 3HGTT Sad I'm so sorry !

If you don't mind me asking, how bad was the test? I have to take it b/c I just failed my 1 hour. J seems to think it's due to my diet & is all over my case. Ummmm, hello, I've only gained 8 lbs so far so I highly doubt it's from what I'm eating. I need to educate him to make him realize that sometimes even the healthiest women get GD. Anyways, I'm seriously hoping to find a lab that is open on a Sat so that I don't need to take an entire morning off of work.

  • The test was torture for me only because the nurse told me not to drink anything before hand - but drink water!!! You need fluids so they can find your veins. The nurse could only find one vein on me so we had to draw all 4 vials of blood from the same spot so that was sore. They prick your finger and get your blood sugar, then they draw one vial of blood. Then you drink the orange drink. They take your blood again an hour later, 2 hours later and 3 hours later. I failed the first two. My lab was open on a Saturday so that's when I went. Now I start my training class on Wednesday morning. Good luck with your 3 hour! My doc said I should be okay because it will be really easy to control.

  • Were you able to drink any water while waiting around in the lab or could you not injest anything after that lovely tasting drink? I honestly don't know how I could go 3 hours w/o water since I'm a mouth breather.
