Slips

Does anyone wear slips with skirts/dresses anymore? I always remember my mom wearing them. Unfortunately, I have very few dresses/skirts (could use more right now!) but don't own a slip. Embarrassed

So what's the protocol?

My mom ALWAYS gets onto me about that - you're supposed to wear a slip under most skirts/dresses. I, however, never do. I'm not a big fan of slips...they're annoying to me.

You're also supposed to wear stockings under dresses/skirts, too, but I hardly ever do. I think I only wear stockings when I wear dresses to work [which rarely happens].

haha! I don't think I've worn a slip since like..... 1995! I think slips and stockings are passe now.

So funny you say this.

So I was wearing a dress out when my parents watched the baby for J and I- and my mother gasped "YOU NEED A SLIP!" I couldn't find mine.

No, I do not wear them often, if at all- and the only time I wear nylons or tights is in the wintertime.

I did however buy a body slip like this one- more for shaping/hiding then anything.

Call me passe, but I still wear slips. Nylons rarely. The slip has saved my modesty more than once when a breeze kicked up my skirt. It's breezy here, so I consider a slip a necessity when wearing a skirt. And, I HATE it when the skirt wants to go between my legs.

I always thought the purpose of a slip was to block the sun from shining through..never even considered the wind.

That's what I always thought too. I still have two in my drawers, but I don't think I've worn either of them in probably 20 years.

I don't own any slips. I did flash the parking lot the other day while I was wearing a skirt and the wind blew. The hem of my skirt clung to the top of my butt after the wind stopped, so it wasn't a quick flash either...

I have one, hell I don't even know if it still fits me -- but, no, I don't wear them mainly because I don't buy a dress/skirt unless its a solid material ... but I'm strange like that.

I cant remember the last time I wore a slip. I used to wear them years ago, but I think I gave them all away. I have no idea what happened to them.

I forgot slips existed! I haven't worn one since I was a kid. I think most of my skirts are lined, which pretty much renders it unnecessary. Except for the wind issue.
