DH has been interviewing for a job since early July. He first had the usual discussions with recruiters, then a 30 min phone interview with the hiring manager, then went on-site for a 4 hour interview with the hiring manager, his boss and 3 members of the department's team (separate interviews). Earlier this week he was brought back onsite for another hour-long interview with the hiring manager - he may have to meet again with the manager's boss.
Salary has still not been brought up besides the recruiter asking for a range -- DH gave a figure which must have been in the ballpark, but he doesn't know for example how much of it would be salary vs. incentives etc.
DH was told they should reach a decision early next week - is it normal for the salary not to be discussed until the offer is made? DH is still interested in the job, but since the interview process began he has also promoted at his current job - I just hate for everyone to be wasting their time. If the figure DH gave would be his salary, that's one thing but if only 50% of that is salary and the other is incentive/bonus, then the job may/may not be of interest.
DH has said he hasn't felt there was a right time to have those discussions and I don't know if it's appropriate for him to bring up the issue or not? In every job I've had and in DH's job experience too, the interview process usually starts with the interviewer giving the salary range and then an offer within that range is made and negotiations go from there.
