1st interview in 4 years

I'm a bit out of practice and a wee bit nervous.  My last interview was really easy and laid back and lasted 4 hours (no joke).  That was a bit out of the norm, I know, but now I've got to get back into the swing of things with this whole interview thing.  I've got to get my head into "marketing/selling myself".  ***SIGH***  I really want to get a job, but I'm not to the point of desperation, but I still wanna knock the guy's socks off and leave his mouth hanging open, thinking, "I'll do whatever it takes to get that woman on my team!"  LOL

Send me some good vibes or pointers or suggestions or laughs or whateva ya got.  :)

  • Breathe!

If you're not sure how you want to answer a question, it's okay to pause.  Take a breath and use the time to formulate the answer.  Also, remember that they're not out to trip you up, they may be just as nervous about this as you are.  It's not a firing squad, treat it as an exchange of ideas.

  • In my opinion, interviewers can sense your level of desperation, or lack thereof.  I recommend you be honest about why you are not as eager as you could be to interview for this job.  It might help you identify what requirements it would actually take to get you to jump.  GL.
  • You bring up a good point.  I really want to work, but I'm not willing to take just whatever.  I need to be aware of how I'm presenting myself (body language, facial BLOCKED EXPRESSION to make sure I'm relaying that I'm excited about the opportunity.  Thanks for mentioning this.

I'm nervous because I'm not really a sales person and I always feel that's what you need to do in an interview.  Sell your skills and abilities.  I call tell you what I bring to the table, but I'm not that great at telling you why you can't live without having me.  Does that make sens?  At any rate, the interview is the begining of next week.

  • I recommend being yourself and being honest.  Whenever someone gave rehearsed answers for half the questions I had it made me question their credentials.  The point of an interview was to find out who was going to be a fit for the position not try to make everyone sweat as much as possible
