This is my first post on the nest. My husband deployed to Iraq 2.5 months after we got married (SOOO thankful it didn't change and he made it to the wedding!). He's been deployed for 2 months. I'm on summer break from nursing school and sitting in my living room watching I Am Number Four by myself. Thus, my title. Deployments suck and I wish my hubby were cuddling up next to me!

Photo bomb, yeah!
Re: Deployments Suck!
Well, they kind of do sometimes, but how much is all in how you react to it. I am super psyched for FI (almost H) to leave, because I can watch all the Teen Mom I ever wanted! Also, I can pay down even more debt, because I have no problem eating cheap and strange things. And I can finally move on a professional goal. Yay!
I'm sorry today is a rough day, but welcome to the board!

Welcome to the board and sorry you're having such a bad day. To Stan's list I would add:
-Having the bed all to myself
-Watching sports and Jeopardy in peace b/c MH without fail screams at the tv when we're watching them together. It doesn't bother me most of the time but sometimes it gets on my nerves. lol.
--I can take as much time getting ready as I want.
--I can use all the hot water.
--The amount of laundry and dishes goes way down, and subsequently our water bill.
While I do miss my husband (who has also been gone a little over 2 months), there are some definite perks! I'll add a few to the list as well.
I get super fast internet because H isn't stealing my bandwidth, I get to listen to whatever music I want without complaints, I don't have argue about what we're having for dinner annnnnd I get to drive the new car. I especially love having the bed to myself since H is a blanket stealer and a snorer.

Welcome to the board, these ladies give great advice and helped me get out of my funky mood recently as well. I wanted to add to the list as well
.
You get to pick whatever movies you want to see (all the chick flicks you can stand).
I personally get to sleep at night WITHOUT his movie playing in the background... DH has to have noise to go to sleep and i have to have it quite.
You dont have to smell his nasty gas when he eats the wrong thing... omgosh, that is the absolute best part of this deployment.
I agree with PPs - there are sucky times but there are some benefits as well.
- you can leave dishes in the sink for a night without it bothering someone else.
- you don't have to compromise on tv or movies you want to watch
- the fridge has just your favorite foods
- no one else taking all the hot water for morning showers
- less laundry
- the ability to do everything the way you want to and come and go without worry about how it affects another person.
- the entire bed to yourself
