what do you keep in a cabinet and what do you leave out on the counter?

Re: bathroom poll: counter vs cabinet?

  • the only thing on my counter is my electric toothbrush and hand soap. everything else is in the cabinet
  • The only things on my bathroom counter is a vase of flowers, hand soap pumps and a decorative candle. Oh, and cat hair....the cat loves to hang out on the counter when we shower. Everything else gets put away in the cabinets or drawers.

  • toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, hand soap, my bar face soap and rrr's shaving stuff are on the counter. That's about all we can fit along the wall and out of Tracey's reach. We have a pretty monstrous bathroom floor to ceiling bathroom cabinet, so everything else is up in there.

  • When the countertop is clean, I have the toothbrush holder & soap out.

But really, 90% of the time it is a mess that includes anything we didn't put away before we left for work.

  • hmmm.  I have a lot of crap on my counter.  At least in the master bath.  q-tip holder thing, cotton ball holder... Toothbrush holder, a soap dispenser at each sink.. a little jewelry holder that my wedding ring and watch get set in each night, DH's electric razor holder thing (that's my official word for it). I think that's it.  everything else is put away in the cabinet or the drawers.

In the downstairs bath, the soap dispenser is it.

The girls bath, soap, toothbrush holder and their bow holder frame are on the counter.

  • Toothbrushes, Bath and Body Works pump soap at both sinks and an antique wooden box that hides our q-tips! Anything and everything else is in cabinets, I'm a bit OCD so everyone knows NOT to leave stuff on the counter! Smile
  • In the kid's/public use bathroom: soap, maybe a candle and right now a bucket of hair stuff that needs to be put away.

In my bathroom: basket of stuff I use every day - hair dryer, hot rollers, make-up, hair stuff, contact stuff, glasses, brushes, hair ties for the girlie, toothbrush holder and as of this morning - a toy Avery was playing with while I was doing her hair. I am forever vowing to put everything out of site, but I have yet to do it.

  • Supposed to be out: Electric Toothbrush, my toothpaste, 2 apothecary jars w/ cotton balls & q-tips, hand soap pump, regular toothbrushes.

Actually out: all the above, plus DH's razor, shaving cream, a hair brush, assorted hair products & accessories, and the occasional pair of dirty boxers (DH has a tendency to leave his dirties in my sink, as mine is closest to the shower).

  • Kid bathroom -  NOTHING.  I used to have out a pump soap, but cleaning that up more than once proved it was a bad idea...

Our Bathroom - DH nothing, me - electric toothbrush, hand soap, face wash, and  a little basket that has some lotions and 1 bottle of meds in it.

  • When the counter is cleaned up:  Hand soap at each sink, 3 small apothecary jars, decorative containers of cotton balls & q-tips, a decorative toothbrush holder, & a piggy bank.  Anything else goes in the cabinet.

Right now:  All that's listed above, plus DH's toothpaste, my hair dryer & brush, a suitcase, my make-up bag & some pregnancy tests.

  • When it's clean, electric toothbrushes, soap, and my jewelry box.  90% of the time it's messy though and also has contact solution, hair products, H's shaving mess, etc. strewn around b/c we're too lazy to put it back after every use.  Our bathroom is pretty much the only room of the house that only gets picked up when the maid's coming.

Ditto. And Evan has a cabinet he is allowed to get into that contains his bath toys, so he has started putting them on the counter as well as all over the floor.

  • I have glass jars with qtips and cotton balls, plus a little tray for jewelry on the counter. On the sink top, we keep a soap dish and toothbrush. Everything else is in the cabinets

  • Toothbrushes, toothpaste, my hair brush and hand soap.  That is about all that will fit on the counter!  I don't even know if you can consider it a counter, it just about a 3-4 inch space around the sink!   We have the smallest bathroom ever!

  • We pretty much leave everything on the counter, it seems like.   I don't really care since people rarely go into our master bath.

I have my makeup bag, a small basket with misc items (contact solution, hair gel, moisterizer, lotion, etc.), toothbrush holder, soap dispenser, pump lotion, DH's shaving caddy, his cologne, etc.  Even when we straighten up - most of that stuff stays out.

Guest bath, we just have soap dispenser and maybe a decorative picture frame/knick knack.

  • DH and I have separate sinks/counters/cabinets.  On both we have tissue box, soap and electric tooth brush.  That is pretty much the only thing DH has on his.

Mine on the other hand could have any random amount of crap on it... makeup, toothpaste, hair brush, cups, god only knows.  I'm such a mess.

This is us as well.  Except in the downstairs guest bath DD has a toothbrush and toothpaste in addiation to the soap dispenser.
