Bored and anxious at work

I am bored. It's been this way for a while. I thought when I was promoted to executive assistant to the CEO, I would have fun and challenging responsibilities. However, I quickly learned this is not the case. All I do is get coffee, arrange for travel, and pay a few bills from time to time. My boss is so busy, he barely has time to see me let alone hear any ideas or discuss my concerns. I just don't feel like I am developing, and the industry I am in isn't something I am really interested in. I like challenges and like being busy, but I feel lost here. I am happy to have a job, especially in an expensive town with barely any employment available, but it honestly doesn't even pay that well.I think I going to look elsewhere but husband says I have a pattern of quitting jobs after a year. It's kind of true-- I guess I am just always searching for something better. I am young: 25 no kids, so maybe it's still a good time to make my move. Any advice?

Re: Bored and anxious at work

  • I'm in the same boat. I took an EA job thinking I would have the same set of responsibilities as I did previously, but it's a joke. It's really bringing down my resume too. All I do is answer phones and print things, basically.  I am also 25 with no kids, so I see no problem making a move to find something better suited to your skills now.  In the meantime, at least you have time to work on your resume and job search.
