Hey girls! I just got back from a college workshop two-day "camp" with some of my seniors. It was a blast, but exhausting, so today I'm off and doing NOTHING. Well, except for unpacking and cleaning the house. And catching up on everything I missed on this board ![]()
I also had a "pet peeve" to share, so maybe we can do a list of pet peeves!!!
It's going to be really hot in the NY/NJ area today (and around the country, I know) and I'm just waiting for the first person to post the temperature inside their car on facebook. I can't explain why, but I HATE when people do that!!!!! HAHA What's YOUR peeve??
Re: Thursday Peeves
omg I hate this too. HATE. I also hate vague-booking, but we've addressed that recently
I #1 pet peeve in all the world is when people are rewarded for bad behavior. Such as whining/lying/being mean and then ultimately getting what they want, or being a craptastic employee and then getting a raise.
LOL! I thought of doing that the other day! Ooops! haha
My pet peeve on FB is people writing cryptic statuses and AW statuses.
Isn't most FB statuses AW related? lol It seems like everyone that posts is trying to get attention for something.
Haha...this is true I guess. I guess I mean more than normal AWing
Oh I know what you mean.. especially those people that think its necessary to post a new picture of themselves standing in front of a bathroom mirror EVERY DAY and then talk about how gross they look just so people compliment them
This may seem bratty, but someone did this the other day and it just annoyed me more than it should have. When people take a tragedy, and instead of saying how sad, they say how everyone else should appreciate what they have and not be upset at any of the things in their lives. It is basically saying that you dont get to be upset over something because someone out there has it worse than you. Someone will always have it worse than you! Someone elses problems or situation should not diminish your problems or situation. Like oh, you only lost a finger, other people lose legs, you should be happy.
The person saying it just made a blanket statement, "Oh this really awful things happened, so everyone out there should realize that their problems mean nothing"
I know that it is good to put things in perspective, I think that it was just the way that it was said was annoying to me.
I hope I am making sense, and not coming off like a really horrible person.
I fecking hate it when people don't hold doors when there is clearly someone behind them.
I also hate it when people don't WAIT for others to get off the train before they try to plow in. I have no problem elbowing people who do this while I am trying to exit the train. Drives me bonkers.

I'm peeved by a coworker who is taking out on me the fact that an event booked at 5pm last night for TODAY.
I'm sorry I had to stay late to work on it (you didn't) I'm sorry I had to send emails from home last night and this morning (you didn't) I'm sorry I walked in the door and had to jump right into putting together a floor plan and set-up sheets (you didn't) so PLEASE loose the attitude when it takes me exactly 1 hour to complete everything (thats pretty fast BTW)
Don't call me and passive aggressively tell me that my boss who stopped by my desk saw the HAND DRAWN floor plan and asked if I was computerizing it (which I had JUST finished) then walked immediately down to your office and ask why I hadn't sent it yet. Sorry I was completing the file before sending! UGH!
YES! Or people who post things that should never be posted on FB...I have a cousin who posts terrible things. It makes me wonder why I am still her friend on FB to be honest!
ugh!!!!!!!!! yes...hate this. I am all for getting perspective on your problems, but those type of comments are just uncalled for.
DH's cousin has brain cancer, which is terrible. His GF is always posting about him and the troubles he's experiencing, which is helpful for some of us who aren't the first to know when things happen with him. I appreciate this. Ok, that being said, she also post passive agressive stuff about people who post about being sick etc etc. "I wish Mike could just have a cold...". She'll throw other stuff in there too. I TOO wish that Mike could just have a cold etc, but this is FB...people can post that they are sick. It doesn't diminish the fact that what's happening with Mike is horrible. You know? It's happened quite a lot...so it's not an isolated incident.
That makes total sense, and you are not a horrible person!!!
I see what you are saying. But I guess it all depends on what the person's "problem" is. I have a friend who has everything in his life going for him, and threatens to kill himself when the Yankees lose or if his fantasy baseball team isn't working out. I mean, really, dude. Check yourself. Alot of his best friends even block him - his statuses are always complete nonsense. He gets SO angry over things that have nothing to do with is real life in any way!!! I guess some people need to get a little perspective. But I hear ya, no one knows what's ever going on in someone's life and everyone has a cross to bear.
I have a huge pet peeve about DH's boss(es). He took off last Friday for his sisters wedding so we could go out and help with whatever they needed. H has had this on the calendar for months now so they would know. Earlier in the week (maybe Wed) one of the bosses asked if he could help out with something Friday morning before we left town. No!! We have plans and have to be somewhere!!! They pulled this crap the weekend of our wedding too. He also ended up working late Thursday night when I was trying to get everything together for the weekend.
Everytime he wants to take a day off (which is very rare) they try to con him out of it. They even called while we were still on our honeymoon to see if he could do something for them. Please just let the poor guy have a freakin day off!! He bends over backwards to make you happy and you still crap on him constantly!!! GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Sorry that got kinda long but I'm frustrated with the whole thing.
This! Also encompasses chewing loudly/ with mouth open noises.
Oh and for the Harry Potter fans, I thought of Peeves the Poltergeist when I saw the title of the post heehee. I just finished reading the 7th book for the 2nd time today so I am engulfed in it and ready to see the movie!!

@Courtney: Totally understandable and it does not make you a horrible person!
I have two major pet peeves.
1. People who don't use their directional. Do you really not know which way you are going?
2. People who can't walk their shopping carts to a stall or back to the store. Butting it up against another car that is there does not count. Think about it people, would you really like your car dinged up by a shopping cart?

@Courtney --- I was just talking to my coworker about this, because I was saying how I felt guilty being sad and complaining about my job situation when overall my life is pretty good and easy. What she said I thought was so true: "Just because you're not going through the worst thing possible doesn't mean to you don't have the right to be sad. You're supposed to feel things. And as long as you're cognizant of what you do have, you can be sad when something sucks!"
@Court - Dude, I get it. My sisters are always do that to me when I just need to vent to them.
@Rach - That may be one of the best things I have heard in a long time! : )
I'm on board with with all of the smacking sounds, stupid FB posts, etc. I also can't stand when people misspell. I totally get the slip-up every once in a while, but people misspell the same word about 20 times, it is obvious they aren't making a typo. There are lots of words I don't know how to spell. So I either figure it out first, or use a synonym of that word instead. In today's world it is just unacceptable...haha! : )
I also get SO peeved at Jeff when I tell him we need to clean the house after work, and when I get home he is playing that STUPID FRICKING CALL OF DUTY GAME!!! I would SO shatter that disc into pieces if I didn't know that he would just go buy another, so we would be out that money. Poo. But, I guess I can spend hours reading, so to each his own...but really, get out of your chair and pick up the room! Hahaha! : )
