digital scrapbookers

How and where do you get your layouts printed? Do you do 12x12 or 8.5x11? I'm into traditional scrapbooking but just discovered the digital scrapbooking feature in Photoshop. It's a lot easier to create layouts this way but how do you get your layouts printed and/or put into a book?

Do you prefer digital or traditional and why?

Re: digital scrapbookers

  • I usually use a photobook website to have do my books. I've used Picaboo, Lulu, snapfish, and I think one other one, but I can't think of it right now. IMO Picaboo is the best. They have the most flexibility with layouts and backgrounds. A couple times a year they will publish a code where new users can get a FREE classic book (I got the leather covered one) and only pay shipping. I prefer having a book ordered because then I don't have to worry about pages being torn or falling out. All of the programs have been super easy to use so far.

  • I use Photoshop to create my pages and us scrappingsimply.com to get my 12x12 pages printed.  On the blog thedailydigi.com there is a comparison of various printers that is helpful.  It's on the right sidebar.

I just get pages printed as I have coupons - been able to get the price per page down to about $1.50 at times!  I compile them and put them into a traditional scrapbook that I got at Michael's.  Some printers will do complete books for you but I just haven't done that yet.

I have to say I don't miss paper scrapping at all these days.  I am having WAY too much fun with digi!!  I'm actually going to be selling digital kits very soon.

  • Thanks! Where do you guys get papers and embelishments for your kits?
  • As a general rule of thumb if you find a site you like for styles and sign up for a newsletter or something similar that they have, you will likely get special offers and freebies to start building your digital stash.  There is a lot of free stuff out on the web, but not all of it is great.  You'll start to notice quickly.  Also, if you find a designer you like, chances are they will have a blog as well.  Often special coupons and freebies are posted there - or you even get them when you make one purchase.  Lots of shops have one day a week where they have big markdowns.  I would suggest you check out the following:

    ndisb.com (I'll be selling there)

    designhousedigitals.com

    jessicasprague.com

    twopeasinabucket.com

    funkyplaygrounddesigns.com

If you have any questions as you get going just let me know!  Happy to help out if I can.
