I can't seem to find your email, but I wanted to see how you and your friend were liking the CSA at Sunnyhill.
DH and I are really loving all the veggies/sometimes fruit we are getting. What I don't like is the emails updates that we receive that day. I wish they would mail them out the day before. At least HDG area received last week email a day early.
Re: *LLHR* re: CSA
Honestly, I'm not sure I'll sign up again next year.
The quality of the veggies and occasional fruit has been wonderful and I absolutely love buying local and in-season, but I'm just not good at having to build my menu around what's handed to me and getting it all used up in a timely fashion. And, frankly, there's stuff we just don't care for or don't want to eat that much of - cucumbers come to mind. I knew that was a risk with a CSA and figured we'd see how it went, but I think it's just not for us.
I don't actually see the emails that the farm sends, as my friend is the one who did the sign-up, but I can see how getting them in advance (even by just one day) would be helpful!
Next year I think we'll just purchase from farmer's markets and local farm stands. We took a drive up to the Elkton area to Milford Orchards and I was way more excited by their farm store than I am by any of my CSA deliveries.
What do you mean by trade? With other people in the CSA? I guess you would have to talk with those other people. We've been getting tons of cucumbers, potatoes, and corn. But I love corn, so I've been giving away potatoes and cucumbers left and right. We usually freeze squash and peppers.
I'm not really sure... but it's a good question to bring up to the CSA. Thanks for the advice.
