Cover Letter for teaching
Hopefully someday I will be able to figure out these questions on my own. I am applying for a position at a school that I student taught at. It is not a specialist position and I worked pretty closely with the former specialist. Should I mention that or just assume that the principal will remember?

Re: Cover Letter for teaching
I absolutely would include that. Typically the 1st paragraph of the cover letter addresses why you want to work at that district/ school. In the 1st paragraph I'd explain what you enjoyed about the school while student teaching there. You could talk about the sense of community, what you could contribute to the school (since you know the school's needs/ interests), and anything you found impressive about the school.
Thank you for the advice! I really would love to work at this school - even if it's not in the capacity that I had imagined.
For the record, the teacher that I worked closely with is not one of my references. But, since it is a specialist positions and not a grade level, I think it might be important to do a little "refresher" as to my experience in the subject.
