Where the eff is everybody?!?!?!

How slow is this shiznit board?

Tell me 5 things about you. Random, normal, awkward, funny whatever I don't care.

Re: Where the eff is everybody?!?!?!

  • When I was a kid, my sister and I found duck eggs by the creek.  We decided we'd try to hatch them...in the microwave.  (It didn't work).

Secret dream is to open up a restaurant.

When I worked at a bank in college, I used to try to work out scenarios to try to rob it.  I never figured out any scenario that didn't end with getting caught.

I'm terrified of being a young widow.

I lit my hair on fire twice as a kid - first time at Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. Second time was thirteen months later, from the candles on my birthday cake.  After that I kept my hair short.

I know, it's super slow.  I'm not sure if it's just summer, or our group getting smaller and smaller, but it's bumming me out.

Not sure I can think of 5 in the minute I have before a meeting...

I am a terrible know-it-all, and really trying to contain myself.

I think I might be a mean girl, or at least a hanger-on who wants to be with the mean girls.  (BMB related.)  It makes me feel squicky, but I'm not stopping, either.

I always say I'd never want to be a SAHM, but that's only because I think I'd be too lazy and not get anything done.  If I had all the money in the world (so didn't have to worry about career advancement), I would give it a go, and hope for the best.

H's mom sent us a box of baby clothes that we received last night, and I'm going straight to hell, because I just kept thinking that my mom has better taste.

I might never speak to my sister again by the end of this baby shower business.  She keeps asking ME about the invite stuff, even though my BFF is actually hosting, and the invites are my sister's one contribution.  Um, ask BFF what it should say, kthxbai!

hahahha.  That's awful, but it cracked me up.

Speaking of hair...I grew up in the caribbean (fun fact 1).  One summer I spent the ENTIRE summer at the beach.  It helped having the beach on the other side of the street.  Anyway...I figured that it was too much work to comb out and shampoo my EXTREMELY thick, waist length hair everyday  (fun fact 2).  I was going back to the beach the next day away!  So I did that for a week.  I sat in the salt and surf and sand for 8 hours everyday and then just rinsed my single ponytail braid with fresh water in the shower, then hopped in bed.

Well Sat came around and as always my mum forced us to go to church (fun fact3).  I finally had to address the hair situation.  I got in the shower and tried to unplait my braid - to no avail.  It wouldn't untangle for anything.  I got out of the shower and had my mum try.  She couldn't get it combed out either.  We tried for hours. Nothing.  Turns out that my single ponytail matted into a giant dread lock.   I had to have my head shaved.(fun fact 4)

Any that's how I ended up with the ugliest haircut known to man and how I found out how mishapen my head is. (fun fact 5)

How slow is this shiznit board? S to the LOWWWW lately. :) Everybody has apparently actually been working lately or just too busy...

Tell me 5 things about you. Random, normal, awkward, funny whatever I don't care.

Random- One of H's friends (also a GM, so he got the brunt of wedding related crafts) calls me a "crafty ***". He does it with as much love as he can possibly muster... I love it. :)

Normal- I love.love.love creating things that are unique... Blog hopping for creative ideas uses WAY too much of my time

Awkward- H and I both have mommy issues. They are both NUTS. We know it and freely admit it.

Funny- My little Piper dog likes to lay under our deck where the dirt is cool and shady when it's ungodly hot out (and sometimes when it's not). I yell at her to get out b/c I am afraid of whatever might be under there (like snakes) and she might get dirty and I don't want to bathe her.

Whatever- I am so excited about opening this etsy shop.... can you tell, I've been taking about it all.the.time. Sorry about that. :)

When I worked at a bank in college, I used to try to work out scenarios to try to rob it.  I never figured out any scenario that didn't end with getting caught.

i used to work in a bank and always WANTED it to get robbed (without violence) so i could have some excitement in my life.

    1) i can say the alphabet backwards

    2) i am related/first cousins with (was related, he died) to kevin dubrow of quiet riot.  80s fans?!

    3) i am one of the most liberal people you will all ever talk to.

    4) the front half of my body is tan, the back side, totally white.

    5) i say "acceptable" like ah-sept-ah-ble.  gerren hates it.

  • DIA- I don't know whether to laugh or cry at your poor hair incident.... I had a couple short haircuts as a kid (mostly due to my mother feeling it was the best option since that's how she liked her hair) and I can't even imagine something like yours happening. eek.

  • OMG Dia!! That is crazy! I like the part about going to the beach every day, but not so much dread lock, head shaving. I give you props for looking back at it with humor.

     Here are my random facts:

    1) I have the widest feet of anyone I know. My mom jokes that when I was a toddler she thought about binding my feet just to fit in baby shoes.

    2) One of my favorite things to do is wake up and snuggle up to H and smell the crook of his neck. He showers before bed and smells SO good.

    3) I really really really want a dog. I get jealous every time I hear about Leo going on runs with her pup :)

    4) The largest amount of grief in my life comes from my MIL. It's the only reason I want to move to another state.

    5) I'm going to sneak off and get a pedicure at lunch today. Yay!

  • tbears get me your etsy name and I'll AW you out to some friends!

    Alicia I am super sorry.

Shauni my legs and arms are tan front and back but my stomach is ghost white, its awesome.

    1. I have a lot of secrets from a lot of people. I like having something to myself.

    2. I would love to own a bakery but I suck at baking.

    3. Im addicted to my phone. I check is asap when I wake up.

    4. I think I have cute feet.

    5. I kind of wish I was addicted to something...anything, like a sports team or a bad habit or fad, but Im not cool enough.

  • *My friends just offered me money to start a bakery.  I won't take it because I have no clue how run a bakery or even make anything on a large scale (how do you multiply a recipe to make 1000 cupcakes????)

*When I was in first grade I ended up in the nurse's office every Thursday with a stomach ache.  It always coincided with gym class.

*DH and I have baby names picked out even though I'm not sure I want/am ready for a baby.  I had to take some time to mourn the loss of our girl name since his cousin is using it for her baby.  I know it's kind of lame.

*In grade school, I was very active in my church - choir, altar server, summer bible school.  I now rarely attend church.

*I won't go bowling because a) I don't like the shoes and b) I don't want to break a nail.  My nails are natural, but I keep them long (not excessively) and well shaped.  I get very upset when I break a nail and have to trim them all.

My deal is that I am going to murder your puppies and piss on your rainbows. -diablesse Lilypie Premature Baby tickers
  • Kaz - aaww, Allie Earp is a good dog and we love her to pieces!

    5 about me:
    1. according to DH, I'm a spell-a-saurus; he'll ask me how to spell something and I'll spell it correctly (he's a bad speller).

    2. I wish DH was the sole breadwinner so I could be a SAHW.

    3. I have the worst tan...I have some color from my ankles up to my mid thigh and then most of my arms are tan and my midsection and back are completely white.

    4. Whenever we walk our dog, some other dog owners who have small dogs immediately pick theirs up, as if my dog will eat her in one big gulp...which is fine by me because their small dog is the one who would usually charge at my "pit bull'.

    5. I'm using a personal day tomrorrow to have fun at the waterslides...seriously. DH, my IL's and our 2 nephews & 1 niece will be having fun in the sun and water. hollah!

    1. I would love to own a breakfast restaurant. I love going out to breakfast

    2. Now that we are having a girl I am very scared people will buy us pink Red Sox, Patriots gear. I think Sports attire should be in the team colors even if you are a girl. I will not put my daughter in pink sorts attire.

    3. I took out my belly ring today and felt a little bit of my youth die.

    4. I feel I wont breast feed as along as a should/want to because I will want to have some beers and judge myself for such a silly reason.

    5. I can't wait to take Brooke to her first State Fair in February and her first sporting event.

Xtine, I agree!  Pink sport shiz needs to end!  We bought Predator Steelers and Penguins jerseys before we knew if we were having a boy or a girl, and would never think of doing the pink thing.

Totally agree.  Especially hate on the 'sexy' pink jerseys for women.  If it was just supporting Susan G Komen or whatever it would be one thing.  But it's not, and it's obvious.

I am not a big drinker in the least, and I still feel super guilty when I want a drink.  I try to time it so it has a  few hours to get through my system before I feed the baby again, but it still makes me think I'm a bad mom for putting my wants before his needs.Embarrassed

OMg, I love sniffing the back of chris's neck too! And ears.  I have a weird thing about ears.    I can't go to sleep until I get a good whiff of the back of his head.

Xtine, I'm already planning my first 'pump and dump' session so I can have champagne.  Don't worry about it!

  • On the BF...I tried once with E and it freaked me the fruck out! It was sooo awkward and unnatural to me, flame away, but it was not an option for me.

I will not flame because I also think this will be me as well. I would love to do it. Mainly because it is free but I kinda feel once I try it will be weird. So I might just pump

Haha!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I wonder if it's some biological reason that makes it comforting.

Agree with Xtine, no flames from me.  You have to do what works for you.  What freaks me out are the people that do it forever!  Um, if your kid can tell you when he wants to breastfeed, it's time to stop.

I'm just hoping to get through my maternity leave.  If it works, great, I'll try to pump from work until 6 mo, but otherwise I assume I'll just want my body back.

  • I'm way late on this but going to play anyway. I've been MIA a lot because I'm not in front of a computer all day like I am at the schools and I hate posting from my phone because I can't do paragraphs.

    Here are my 5 things:

    1. I cut my elbow on a toilet lid when I was in 2nd grade and had to get stitches (6 green stitches). Some family from AL were also visiting and in the haste to get me to the ER, my grandma wrapped a "towel" around my elbow only to find out it was my favorite jacket.

    2. I also went through a terrible haircut but I wanted mine short to be like my mama. Worst. haircut. ever. I looked like a freakin' boy. I want to burn all those pictures every time I see one.

    3. I will not grab the first item off the shelf.

    4. I cannot tan. Not kidding. I've got to the tanning bed for months and tried a billion different lotions and everything and nothing works. My arms/shoulders will tan somewhat but my stomach and legs stay ghostly white. I've given up on it.

    5. I already have a baby outfit (superman bc J loves him) and a neutral giraffe baby blanket for a baby we don't have....

P.S. In total agreement about the sports wear and pink. Hate it and will not wear it.

  • Yeah, I'm day's late on this, but I'm bored! I'm commenting on other people's things first:

Susie (and Jessie): H and I want to open a cafe/deli/bakery (like panera's) and a restaurant. I don't think it's going to happen.

Kaz: I set an alarm 15 min before my real alarm just so I can cuddle and sniff H for 15 min in the morning

eMilee: Ditto 2, 3 and 4. I hated PE. We're child free and we already have named for kids just in case there's an accident. And I was an altar server, eucharistic minister and taught CCD and now I'm an atheist.

Tan lines/unevening tanning people: My skin does not do tan. It's either pasty white with freckles or bright freaking red.

BF people: BFing freaks me the eff out. It's on my list of "Thing that Bother Me About Motherhood."

I also agree about sportswear in pink. Ew.

    My things:

    1. I have thought I was a dog person all my life. I got a dog. Now I realize that I'm a cat person.

    2. In high school/freshmen year of college, I LOVED to work out. If I was happy, I'd go work out. If I was sad, I'd go work out. If I was angry, I'd go work out. I'm so out of shape it's depressing. I wish I could get that love back.

    3. I get heat stroke at the drop of a hat. One summer when I was in HS, my parents tried to be cheap and not turn on the air condition. I puked, seized and passed out not once, but on FIVE separate occasions before my parents put the air on.

    4. Until I was 9, I had crooked, bucked front teeth and an awful overbite. Thank you seven years of braces. (Yes, I was 16 when they came off).

    5. I have never colored my hair. Ever. No highlights, no temporary colors, nothing.

(An unmatched left parenthesis creates an unresolved tension that will stay with you all day.
