Sam's

I jumped on the "Sam's Club giant bottle of vanilla" bandwagon.  It's awesome.  Thank you for opening my eyes.  Stick out tongue

Re: Sam's

  • Seriously, it's awesome! I also get the large containers of Spice Islands Cinnamon, Almond Extract, Cocoa powder, etc. I use about 2/3 of them during Christmas, then have the remainders to last me the next few months. It's just so much cheaper!

  • I really don't know why I didn't think about doing that sooner.
  • I bought mine sometime last year when LB took me to BJ's for booze. I am a total warehouse store whore now. Love!

  • I need to buy this stuff next time we go, I never thought about getting spices/extracts there.

  • I actually made vanilla extract a couple years ago and still have a bunch left. It was so easy - put a few vanilla beans (sliced open) in some vodka and let it sit for several months. Voila, done!

Butting in to say that you can actually nurse the vanilla little by little so you never run out! Just add a little vodka every here and there when it's getting low (I'm talking 1/3 cup at most), then let it sit at least a week before using it again. It doesn't dilute, only steeps. It's pretty awesome!
