Completely and utterly overwhelmed.

This is mostly a vent but I have to throw it out into the void.

This online class kicked my ass.  Not to toot my own horn, but I'm a really good student.  I get my work done and do it well.  This class was unreasonable.  Started 7/5, ends today, no assignments due on weekends.  So it's basically 3 credits in 14 days.  No biggie, I did my entire masters is 3-week session.  Wrong.  I have NEVER had so much work for a graduate level class in my life.  11 essays, 2 six page papers with powerpoint presentations and abstracts, a written midterm, and a final that we have to report for, so it's not open notes, the way one would expect an online class to operate.

We weren't given a study guide for the final.  It's a crapton of information and I begged for some guidance earlier in the week and was nicely told to go away.  In desperation, I tried again last night and she finally caved and gave the class more direction, and I'm overwhelmed.  I'm going to fail.

Combine that with this:

1) We're moving Monday.

2) DH started a new job and he's getting home an hour later so I'm once again picking up more household responsibilities (not that I mind, it's just that this week I feel scatterbrained).

3) His car died last night and instead of spending last night studying and him driving around getting boxes so we can pack, I drove around and packed while his parents came over and helped him deal with the car.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

I cannot WAIT to write this professor's evaluation.  She's been awful.  Oh, and did I mention the fact that not all of the assignments were on the syllabus, so it was impossible to try to work ahead?  And that she would modify assignments the day they were due, so 2 of my essays were on the wrong topics?

Grrrrrrr......

Thanks for listening.  If you made it this far, go grab a cookie.

Re: Completely and utterly overwhelmed.

  • wow she sounds like a peach.  How can she modify the syllabus the day things are due???

vibes that you passed and you can put this class behind you and focus on the new house!

I feel for you because I remember how much I had to do when we moved and how stressful it was, and I can't imagine having the stress of a  class like that on top of it.

  • Definitely write a review of the professor, and if you can, try and get some other students involved. My husband had this happen last year with a professor that only taught the course every other semester. They ended up getting their grades bolstered by about half a grade and although the professor didn't step down, he was fully aware of the situation. The worst part about this for him was that he didn't have to take the course, It was something he was doing for PD for his professional engineering license. He could have taken one weekend long course instead of the master's level course.

Good luck with everything on your plate! Moving is tough enough without having to worry about a class at the same time.
