Quick update...

Sorry I have been MIA lately. I drop in once in a while but usually never have time to actively participate. Its hotter than all get out here (just like everywhere else) and I am seriously starting to think that our electric bills are going to force me to work 17 jobs when I go back to work (I kid). Charlotte is keeping me super busy and has been overly needy in this heat. I feel bad for her but we all have to deal with it. Mark is still working for the same company, but since we decided not to move to London, he is working with a new group in Boston. I am super excited that I will possibly get to meet a bunch of you when I travel with him on a long weekend. If its not the fall, it will definitely be the springtime.

I hope everyone is doing well! I go back to work in a week and a half which is starting to KILL me. I will have more time to post then, however, I still might have a minor meltdown when I leave her super cute self with the nanny. We had our first night out the other night with a babysitter (my sister) and Charlotte cried for 2.5 hours straight. She was so tired she took extra long naps the next day. We will see how the mommy separation goes.

Re: Quick update...

  • This heat blows.  Though I guess I prefer it over 5 degrees in the dead of winter.  And I hear ya on being MIA -- it's hard posting with a newborn at home!

I'll be thinking of you when you go back, Kelly.  That has to be so hard.  I know I'm going to bawl the first week I'm back because leaving Kyler at daycare just breaks my heart, despite the fact that it's a great facility only 5 minutes from my office and I'll get to see him on my lunch break. I think what scares me the most is Kyler having a milestone at daycare that I'm not there to see. (Rolling over, first steps, etc).  How did the other Niner mommies with daycare/nannied babies deal with that??

This thought scares the crap out me. I don't want to miss anything!!

  • Happy to hear from you, Kel. The heat is harsh, especially with a little one (I imagine). Stay inside and stay cool. I hope you have a good 1.5 weeks off with your cutie. I'm terrified to go back to work after birth but I don't have a choice. I imagine it's hard to leave your baby behind.
  • KEL!!!  COME VISIT!!!  Baby playdates for all!

I haven't missed a thing... at least not yet, anyway.

Though there are times that my mother tries to tell me she does things that I haven't seen, but the way I look at it, that's great and all, but it hasn't happened until *I* see it.... because the way I look at it, if it is in fact a first, and not just a fluke, it will happen again, so in reality you aren't missing out on much.

I've missed a few things. You just have to keep in mind that it's not the last time they'll do it, and when you do see them do these things, it will be just as special for you.

  • Kel, I promise it will get better.  Nate was not very pleased when I went back to work.  He was just outgrowing his colic and was still prone to screaming without respite.  I thought our nanny would quit:(  It takes time for the baby to adjust but I found that he slowly got better and better.  Now Nate lights up when she walks in the door.  I'm sorry you are stressed out with the move (we are scheduled to move at the end of this month) so difficult with a babySad

I hope you in Boston since I'm right around the corner in RI.

@ Tara:  It's tough to go back to work, I was able to deal with it by thinking of how I was working to make his life better (health insurance, college savings, future family vacations).  Even now, I know I'm doing the right thing.  Even SAHM can miss milestones since baby might be with Dad while she is out and about:)
