Look at this bug!

This guy was flipped over on my way to work today. I flipped him back and snapped his picture. So cool.

  • It's cmmonly reffered to as a pincher beetle. I forget whqt it's actual name is, but it's close in nature to a Stag Beetle, except this one tends to like wet areas. They used to be around my childhood house all the time.. I used to catch them and "study" them. I wanted to be an entomologist lol

Sometimes I think I want to be an entomologist. I don't want to work in the field though - I just want to take the classes.

My H is very anti-bug. He's always trying to get me to smush bugs/spiders that venture into the house. If I look at them too long before smushing though I get sad about it and start feeling really guilty and I have to make him do it.

I could never smush a bug this big. I would cry!

  • I am anti bug smooshing too with the exception of flies I tend to catch and release most bugs.
  • If they're outside I never smush. If they're inside they have broken a rule in my mind and they can get squished.

Unless it's like a caterpillar or something and then I put it outside. I put stink bugs outside too. I guess I only smush roaches, wasps and any fly/gnat type bug that's inside. Sometimes spiders, but I pretend not to see them sometimes.

Mosquitoes I smush anytime, anyplace. I hate mosquitos.
