Carseat:
When did you make the change to a convertible carseat. Milo is frying in his infant carseat and i think the convertible might allow a little more air to hit him but i am not sure if I am ready to give up carrying a sleeping baby in and out. We have the c. carseat already so we could just switch back and forth between this crazy crazy heat.
Clothes:
I would love to start picking him up some fall/winter clothes on ebay. However I have no clue what size to pick up. He is over six months now but still seems to fit into 3-6 month clothes with some room. Should I just get big and go for 12-18 month or should I invest in 9-12?
Re: Baby questions!
get the bigger clothes, I have some for you to go through too.
Keep him in the infant as long as possible, IMHO it is awful waking up a sleeping child to bring them into the house when there is another option.
He's "crawfishn" or crawling backwards, eh? I give him a week or two to figure out how to put the forward motion in his giddy up
we switched Max to the covertible a few weeks ago. He was too heavy to be carrying in the damn infant carseat, plus his feet were about to pass the edge of the seat. Yes, it sucks because we can't bring a sleeping baby everywhere (hello, burgers and beers at 8:00 on a Sunday...) but on the upside, I no longer have bruises on the inside of my elbow.
in terms of clothes...fall is like...2-3 months from now, so I'd think he'd be ok in 6-9/ or 9 (if carters)
or 6-12. honestly, i don't know what i'm saying.
Drew crawled at 8 mos. Backwards crawled for a while because he figured out how to "navigate" towards what he wanted even if it meant calculating a backwards path. LOL
I am not a lot of help on these.
Em is still in the infant seat. Often I just leave it in the car and use it as a convertible. It's nice that way because we still have the option of carrying her if she passes out. Her feet are over the edge but that is okay, as long as the head is still inside the seat.
We might put the convertible in one of the cars this weekend though since Dave had to pick her up Wednesday from the sitters and I forgot to leave the infant seat there. He had to leave her there and meet me half way to pick up the seat. Annoying all around.
As far as clothes, Emma is in 6-12 (or 6-9 or 9-12 or 9 and 12 in Carters). She'll still be in that for awhile. When I pick up fall stuff I'm getting 12-18 or 18 in carters. If Milo grows at a normal rate like Emma does, I would say 6-12. She has been in that size since about April/May and she's not outgrowing them anytime soon.
I'd say a couple weeks for forward crawling.
We switched Oliver into the convertible seat pretty early (maybe 8 months?) b/c we had the 20-pound Graco one. He never hit the weight limit, but the buckles just got too tight. I like the convertible seat b/c we don't have to lug the infant one all over the place. He just seemed so much more comfortable in the convertible one.
For clothes, I would stick to 6-12 or 9-12. I think 12-18 might be too big...for reference, Oliver is in 12-18 right now and he'll probably wear that size through the fall. He's about 24 pounds. If you buy clothes at Old Navy though, keep in mind they run really small, so 12-18 from ON might be good for Milo.
For the carseat question, we put him in a rear facing convertible around 8 months. He was just too long for the infant carrier plus it was too heavy so we weren't even using it to carry him in anymore. The only downside to the rear facing convertible is that we couldn't put it in the middle seat for either of our cars because it pushed the driver and passenger seats up too much. We had to put the convertible behind the passenger seat and push that all the way up. Big PITA when all three of us went out together. I drive a 4 door Honda Civic and use the Graco My Ride 65 and dh drives a 4 door Hyundai Elantra and he has a Safety 1st Complete Air 65 convertible carseat in his car and neither fit rear facing comfortably.
For clothes, the kid fit in clothes according to age pretty well. He ran through clothing sizes about 3 months. Now that he hit a year his crazy growth has slowed down and he's been holding steady in 12 to 18 since early spring. So, I would get 9-12 for the fall/winter clothes.
