anyone familiar with ft worth?

there is a chance we might be moving to ft worth.  a slim chance, but a chance.  so we are thinking about driving up this weekend to check it out.  neither of us has ever been there before so we have no idea where to go.  any recommendations for neighborhoods to look at? or to avoid?  is the downtown fun? should we stay the night down there or is it pretty dead?  any tips will help.  thank you.    my phone wont let me do exclamation points for some reason, but i really am grateful.  insert smiley face too   haha

Re: anyone familiar with ft worth?

  • The better neighborhoods are in Northern Ft. Worth, up to the Keller area. Downtown can be a blast but it's a bit more old school/country historic, western than downtown Dallas or Houston. Stay in the Sundance Square - you'll have fun there. http://www.sundancesquare.com/

  • We very nearly moved to Ft. Worth when I was job hunting after grad school, I went through a long interview process for a position at the NARA branch there.  And also for a job at a museum.  My SIL went to TCU and lives there, I think the neighborhood she lives in is called Sylvan Heights (from looking at a map) it seemed similar to the Heights neighborhoods here, except without all the new townhouses--  lots of old, little, cute houses.   I haven't spent a lot of time there but from the times I've visited I really liked it!
My big boy is bounding towards 3! Hoping to add a sibling. image Hipster dog is not impressed.
