Re: The Friday Five
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
1. What is your most irrational fear or dislike (i.e. something most people are fine with, or something that brings back bad memories)? - I guess probably clowns. I'm really freaked out by them.
2. Describe your last (or only) encounter with the police. - I got pulled over because I had a brake light out. It was the day after Guy had his vasectomy, and he was in the passenger's seat, and I couldn't get to my glove box to get out my registration without hurting him. So I had to explain to the officer that my husband had stitches in his balls and that's why i couldn't give him my registration.
3. What's the biggest secret about yourself that you've ever revealed, accidentally or on purpose? - Probably when I wrote the blog about my childhood.
4. When is the last time you were really, really angry? Did you do anything drastic because you were so angry? - Probably when our babysitter quit on us. I cry when I'm angry and I didn't speak to her for weeks.
5. If you could raise someone from the dead, who would it be, why, and do you think he or she would be happy to be alive again? - Probably my grandpa on my mom's side, because he died too young (51) and I never got to meet him. I think he would be happy to get to finish the things he never got to do.
1. What is your most irrational fear or dislike (i.e. something most people are fine with, or something that brings back bad memories)? They change all the time but my current one = pooping while in labor. I know it's totally natural, most women actually do it and they tend to clean you/it up before you ever knew it happened but I still fear it. J and I do not discuss anything bathroom related and always keep the door closed even when each goes pee. He also got really grossed out when I told him I needed to start to wear pads due to snissing. Sooooo, I can't even imagine what he'd do if he sees me crap right on the floor/table !
2. Describe your last (or only) encounter with the police. I'd say it was probably when I had to report that a bunch (at least 5) packages that were Christmas presents was stolen off our front porch between the time the mailman delivered them & I got home.
3. What's the biggest secret about yourself that you've ever revealed, accidentally or on purpose? Hmmmmm.... not sure about this one.
4. When is the last time you were really, really angry? Did you do anything drastic because you were so angry? Yesterday. I got into a HUGE fight with the receptionist at my OB's office regarding the 3hour GTT I have to take. The lady is a serious twatwaffle.
5. If you could raise someone from the dead, who would it be, why, and do you think he or she would be happy to be alive again? Probably my Great Grandmother on my dad's side. She dies when I was 11 and even though I was young, we used to spend so much time together. I had just started to ask her about how life was like in Italy & what-not when she died. I wish I could have asked her more. She had also started to teach me Italian but I didn't get that far and forget most of it now. ETA: I "think" she'd be happy b/c she'd be able to see how all her great-grandchildren have grown up and what-not.
Dx: Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism After 2 years TTC & failed IUs,we have our IVF baby born 9/24/11

1. What is your most irrational fear or dislike (i.e. something most people are fine with, or something that brings back bad memories)? I am really afraid of falling off of things. Escalators, stairs, ledges (even with railings) all give me a quarter second of pause.
2. Describe your last (or only) encounter with the police. I had to deal with picking up the police report for something that happened on company premises and it was kind of a pain. Luckily finally one cop took pity on me and accepted my letterhead letter stating I was actually authorized.
3. What's the biggest secret about yourself that you've ever revealed, accidentally or on purpose? I don't know. I almost told some of my coworkers I did a pageant yesterday and I decided to refrain. The biggest secret I've revealed lately is that a law school friend is pregnant- some of our friends had no idea and when I asked about a shower they were all huh? about it. I felt terrible, but she is out on facebook and she's 28 weeks, it isn't like I was outing her early. Luckily, she didn't care, so all is well.
4. When is the last time you were really, really angry? Did you do anything drastic because you were so angry? Um, I got really angry at Kirk the other day. I took the dog into our room and slammed the door and stayed there for like an hour. In retrospect I should've taken the xbox controllers with me, because it doesn't really make as much of an impact when he just played video games.
5. If you could raise someone from the dead, who would it be, why, and do you think he or she would be happy to be alive again? I think it would be Abraham Lincoln. A lot of modern politicians can learn from his cooperation and ability to draft people from his former rivals and enemies into doing something that is actually good for the country. Progress!
Stand up for something you believe in.
Great post MB!
1. What is your most irrational fear or dislike (i.e. something most people are fine with, or something that brings back bad memories)?
I'm terrified of people on tvmovies or IRL throwing up. It freaks me out. When H got sick I had to close my ears and put the TV on.
2. Describe your last (or only) encounter with the police.
Several cars had GPSs stolen on the property I work at. The police came over to discuss the incident.
3. What's the biggest secret about yourself that you've ever revealed, accidentally or on purpose? Several on the ole PostSecret Niners version... Also, some of you know that H is a recovering addict.
4. When is the last time you were really, really angry? Did you do anything drastic because you were so angry? Yesterday, unfortunately. I actually considered (in my head) looking into divorce.
5. If you could raise someone from the dead, who would it be, why, and do you think he or she would be happy to be alive again?
My childhood friend Sarah who died ar age 12 from severe asthma. She was so positive and full of life. I know she would love to have a second chance.
I have a lot of these...the two biggest ones are my fear of tiny holes (which manifests also into a fear of rashes and ants...) and my fear of lobsters. I have absolutely no idea where the holes thing comes from, but my brother also has it, so somewhere in our childhood something must have happened, haha. The lobsters thing comes from a nightmare.
2. Describe your last (or only) encounter with the police.
Umm...I got into an accident a few weeks ago, so there was a cop there for that.
3. What's the biggest secret about yourself that you've ever revealed, accidentally or on purpose?
Idk, I don't really have secrets? I don't go around advertising the things I've gone through or done in my life, but if people find out something about me I don't really care.
4. When is the last time you were really, really angry? Did you do anything drastic because you were so angry?
I got really angry about the accident a few weeks ago. The other guy involved lied to the insurance companies. But no, I didn't do anything drastic. I think the most drastic thing I've ever done was go and get an impulse haircut when I was mad at an ex.
5. If you could raise someone from the dead, who would it be, why, and do you think he or she would be happy to be alive again?
I'd probably bring back my great-grandmother, because I realized the other day that my little sister will never know her, and that sucks, because she was awesome. Also I know my mom still misses her. She'd probably be happy to be alive again for a little while, because she loved her family, so I know she'd love to meet Madi.1. What is your most irrational fear or dislike (i.e. something most people are fine with, or something that brings back bad memories)?
I don't hide this from anyone. Seagulls. I hate them and they should be banned from anywhere that I am. When I was little (under 2), there were *two* separate occasions when a seagull swooped down and took food from my hands that were near my face. Scariest. Moment. Ever.
2. Describe your last (or only) encounter with the police.A couple of months ago, I made a sharp turn and accidentally turned on my high beams. A cop pulled me over, threatened me with a fine, and then, let me go.
3. What's the biggest secret about yourself that you've ever revealed, accidentally or on purpose?
That's hard because I'm pretty much an open book. Probably that I'm a switch-hitter ;-)
4. When is the last time you were really, really angry? Did you do anything drastic because you were so angry?
I was IRATE at a guest at work a couple of months back. She had come in to my work 4 days in a row, and 4 days in a row, she gave me a hard time. By the last day, I had had it with her. She came in and asked me a question about my work's generic brand and she didn't like my answer so she asked for "someone smart" to help her. I seriously almost exploded. I walked away from the situation, got another employee and went to lunch. LOL.
5. If you could raise someone from the dead, who would it be, why, and do you think he or she would be happy to be alive again?
I can't answer this question right now, because my answer isn't a logical one and kind of hurts. I think you girls know what my answer is. And - I think they would be ecstatic.
1. What is your most irrational fear or dislike (i.e. something most people are fine with, or something that brings back bad memories)?
I have a fear if I have a child they will die young. I think it is because I lost two cousins at a young age and saw what my aunts went through. It is my greatest fear.
2. Describe your last (or only) encounter with the police. Well, I would deal with them at work on a regular basis. On a non-work related basis, probably in high school. I got PC'd for drinking in the sand dunes and they let us go.
3. What's the biggest secret about yourself that you've ever revealed, accidentally or on purpose? I can't really think of one.
4. When is the last time you were really, really angry? Did you do anything drastic because you were so angry? I swear often while driving in the car. I got mad at a social worker who didn't show up for one of her kids at a graduation awards night, so I had to make a speech for a young girl I met once. Not that I minded, but what does the girl think that her social worker can't be bothered. The social worker's excuse was that she doesn't do things afterhours without overtime. I was floored.
5. If you could raise someone from the dead, who would it be, why, and do you think he or she would be happy to be alive again? My grandmother (my dad's side). She lived a long life, but I think I could use her advice sometimes and I miss her. I would also want Dave to meet her.
1. What is your most irrational fear or dislike (i.e. something most people are fine with, or something that brings back bad memories)? Not sure if it's totally irrational, but I don't like walking alone. It was really hard for me 2 weeks ago to take the dogs to the trail and take them for a walk without Danny. My senses were heightened the whole time and every.damn.bird. that fluttered in the brush was a serial killer come to get me. This has to do with my PTSD/anxiety, so to anyone else it's irrational, but to me, it's completely founded and REALLY hard to get over.
2. Describe your last (or only) encounter with the police. Danny & I were driving home from my mom's last summer after having dropped off some firewood for them, and we had both of the dogs. Usually the dogs are in their seat belts, but it was so hot, I put them on the floor in front of the AC vent. He was coasting down a hill (speed limit 40) and ended up hitting 65mph. There was an unmarked car at the bottom of the hill and we were pulled over. The officer came to the car in a bulletproof ATF vest and as he was asking the usual "where you headed? where'd you come from" jazz TWO MORE cars pulled up with ATF agents. The dogs were wigging out & they asked to search our trunk. We figured there had been a drug/arms bust and Danny (who realized he didn't have his registration or insurance card!) let them check the trunk. So the agent asks for the license and registration/insurance. Danny hands them his license and I tell the agent, (this is the truth, not me trying to get out of a ticket) that we had just received our new cards and hadn't put them in the car yet. The agent said, "No problem. You folks have a nice day." We still don't know what they were doing there.
3. What's the biggest secret about yourself that you've ever revealed, accidentally or on purpose? My TTM--I've kept my hair-pulling a huge secret for the longest time. I didn't tell my parents/sister/friends/Danny until 2006, after I had gone to therapy. So this was a secret for almost 10 years. I decided maybe if I told people it would help ease my anxiety..and to an extent it has, I still pull, but not as much as I used to.
4. When is the last time you were really, really angry? Did you do anything drastic because you were so angry? To be honest it was the throw-down with SIL. And you guys saw the extent of how drastic I am.
5. If you could raise someone from the dead, who would it be, why, and do you think he or she would be happy to be alive again? My maternal grandfather. He died when my mom was 3 months old; he slipped on ice, hit his head and didn't wake up in the morning. For us both to be able to meet him would be awesome. And I think he would be happy to be alive again--he missed out on his youngest daughter's entire life and never got to see any of his grandchildren. If I died tomorrow and my grandchild was able to bring me back to life, I'd be happy about it.
