Erin - baby shower games

If you're being asked for your input on whether or not you want games and want more info about what we've done, what's worked well and what hasn't, let me know. I'd be happy to share. Are games typically played at showers within your circle of family and friends?

Re: Erin - baby shower games

  • Thanks! I would love some input. SIL has asked me if I want any games, the 'typical' games, etc. I just said that I would like some games, but not the 'you can't say baby or I'll take away your clothes pin' game. That one always annoyed me. Maybe because I don't normally have a filter and whatever I think just pops out? LOL I'm not sure.

But back to my reply: Yes! I would like some game ideas. That would be great, thanks!

ETA: and yes, games are normally played at all of the showers I have been to in the area. The ones I have seen are the 'melt the candy bar into a diaper and guess the flavor' one, the 'taste the baby food and guess the flavor' one. The one I love and I think we'll do is similar to the toilet paper wedding dress one you play at bridal showers. Only this one you 'diaper' up a team mate with TP and whoever does the best job gets a prize. Also played one where they had real diapers and stuffed animals. The people raced to 'diaper the baby' and whoever was the fastest and most accurate won.

(Hope all those explanations and quote usage made sense)

  • Oh, you guys are way more active than we are -- my group likes to do things while they are still sitting, lol. For my SIL's shower, I felt we had to take it up a notch and did a High to Low price game (there were 12 items that they had to list in order of price from high to low) and a TV moms game (I had the name of the show, they had to write the name of the mom's character). Unfortunately, neither went over well. They said TV Moms was too hard as most don't watch tv, which I totally understand. And I had the price game set up by the door where I thought everyone was going to come in and since most of them came in a different door, most didnt get up to go to that table. There were about 30 people, but we were at 4 different tables.

At my baby shower, we were all sitting at one big table in a restaurant, about 20 people. My sis had about 10 baby items in sealed brown paper lunch bags that we passed around and had to guess what they were by feel alone. That was a huge hit. She also passed around yarn and they each cut off a piece that they thought was the size of my belly. Then I went around and tried each one, it was hilarious! She also did guess how many diapers were in the diaper cake. And again, because it wasn't right in front of them, I don't think everyone participated in that. And I think she had a word scramble. We like to give them something to do while they wait, lol. We put it on the back of the bingo sheet. We always have bingo, again, goes over well in our circle.

At my sister's baby shower, I did a Price is Right game. I think I had about 6 items displayed and they had to guess the price. That one went over fine, but it was right by the door where everyone came in.

    Hope that helps!
