So I had an ultrasound today....

just to check on the baby.

Um yeah, his femur measured right on track at 35 1/2 weeks.

His head and belly - 39 weeks. HIS HEAD AND BELLY ARE THE SIZE OF A REGULAR AVERAGE NEWBORN ALREADY.

Bye bye vag, it was nice knowing you.

  • Oh, and they said that if they were to make an educated guess on the weight, they put him at 10lb range at birth.

    Eff.

They wont induce someone any earlier than 39 weeks, so, 39 weeks it is.

I am sure he will still be gigantic. Owen was over 9 lbs.

You know, i totally thought it felt like this baby was just going to fall out, its that heavy feeling now - but now I am thinking his huge head will be like a big vag plug.

    Pleasant.

I know I am glad that he is healthy, on track, yada yada.....but c'mon - any girl in their right mind would be like "oh fuuuuuck" when they are told their kid's upper body is already full term.....and you still have 4 weeks left. :)

I might need a horse tranqulizer.

Yes, exactly.  I had a 4lb baby. I know what a 4lb baby looks like, and it was huge to think of pushing it out.

Something over twice that size?  No way in hell.  None.

  • I know how you feel about having that heavy feeling...i always felt like her head was stuck in my crotch. Like it ached once i got up but after i walked around for a little bit it was better. You'll be fine! Dude, i was freaked when they told me J was already 7 lbs at 35 weeks. She came out 9 lbs 8 oz.....NATURALLY and I had no tearing, etc. Don't worry, you're good :)

Oh and va-jay jay is all good too :)

okay - my biggest fears with this kid

    1) him being stuck

    2) him coming out and ripping me apart

    3) end up pooping my pants for life

    4) end up peeing my pants for life

5)pooping and peeing my pants for life

6)hot dog down a hallway syndrome

    Omg I can't stop laughing!

I'm sorry thats mean. But seriously I would think if he is that big they would consider a Csection right?? I can't believe you already gave birth to a 9 lb baby! Did you have an epidural with Owen?

  • I dont want them to cut my guts open for a c section. I could totally see myself crying and saying "I dont want to diiieeee!!!" while they wheel me into the delivery room.

I had an epi with Owen. It was not a pleasant delivery, lets just say that. I could feel a LOT and was about to lose it. At one point, I thought "holy crap, I've had it. This isnt working! I'm just going to get up and get the helll out of here, I cant take this anymore" -- and I seriously was thinking about where we parked the car in the parking lot. Totally irrational.

And, I AM seriously worried about it being hotdog/hallway scenario afterwards. Thats not fun, for anyone. SERIOUSLY!!!

as long as you don't rocket this kid out you should be ok. TMI but the doc, epi or not, needs to be massaging the girly parts so it stretches instead of tears. If i had an epi, i totally would have shot her out and tore to hell. Yes, this is what the doc said. And yes, i believe her because i had a teensy tiny tear (like burned when peeing) with Owen and he was an epi, 3 pushes and out. J was a lot more work and about 45 mins.

And trust, you'll be pooping and peeing just fine after. Also, no complaints about hotdog down hallway syndrome...haha!

  • You are cracking me up, but my first thought when I read this "thank goodness the gift I got Ben isn't newborn or 0-3 month size"!

That kid is going to come out walking. I can't believe he may only be 6lbs less than Lyra! I say that as I am looking at her and thinking, how the hell do you push that size of kid out or carry it? Good luck! Let the delivery force be with you!

  • I hope my vag is like Holly's vag.

I believe that is the first time something like this has ever been said on the nest before.

    Yay for TMI!!

My nurses and doctor did this and it hurt WAAAAAAAAY worse than the actual delivery.  I DID rocket Evan out and tore like a piece of tissue paper.  The pain from the stretching/massaging was so much worse than the recovery from a 4th degree tear.

All I gotta say is that my epi better take better this time b/c I don't need that again.

  • I got "the" massage also, and only had 2nd degree tear. His head was almost 14" circumference.

So... still want those onsies? ;-)

  • Oh my. If it makes you feel better, the u/s at 34 weeks with Kolbe "told" me he was going to be around 11 lbs at birth. He was 9 lbs 3oz at 39 weeks (induced) and we have not had a hot dog down a hallway experience.

I hope they plan on him coming before your edd!

I agree with Holly. Doc needs to be stretching that out. My doc did. No tearing. Nothing. I still have a beautiful vag! Skin is stretchy. Go slow.

  • They continually predicted my lo to be 8 almost 9lbs all through pregnancy and even at the end and he came out 6lbs.  even the doc was surprised he was small in the end so you never know.
  • My last growth scan they measured C at 10+ lbs. He was 7 lbs. 7 oz. when he was born. I know that you grow big babies, but pray that they are wrong.

  • You can do it!

Ian was slightly bigger than Elsie and I only ended up with a 1st degree tear.
