Kidney Infection question

Anything besides antibiotics to take?  Nothing natural for this, right? I'm on number two of this pregnancy and it is a b!tch.

Re: Kidney Infection question

  • Nothing alternative for treatment, sorry. For prevention you might try drinking Cranberry juice (not juice cocktail) to help increase the acidity of your urine to prevent the bacteria from growing :)

  • Dude, I'm telling you:  Do not fart around with this.  If you weren't pregnant, I'd tell you to start googling home remedies (well, probably not with a kidney infection because I know how serious they can be/become), but the fact is, you're pregnant.  This needs wiped out right away.  There are safe antibiotics to take and you need to take them.  You can't have this getting any worse.

    LISTEN TO ME, DAMMIT.

Katie the RN couldn't agree more with all of the above. If you think it sucks now, wait till they admit your @ssfor IV antibiotics!

  • Oh, Jennie.. I filled the scrip.  I was in the hospital with Peyton for this, I don't mess around with them, just curious if there was anything else to do for it.

I don't much enjoy stabbing back pain so dose one has already taken :)

  • Antibiotics are the only way to clear it up. Cranberry juice or cranberry pills can help with the pain/discomfort, but nothing else will get rid of the infection itself.

  • I was just curious if there was some kind of supplement or something I could do to clear these up and avoid getting them for the next 18ish weeks. I just want to avoid a third one :)
