Cookbook Recommendations?

I'm looking to adding to my stockpile. I follow a ton of blogs but I really enjoy recipe books.

Re: Cookbook Recommendations?

  • Do you have a certain kind of cooking you enjoy?

My favorites are Alton Brown's Good Eats books, Paula Dean's books, and I enjoy Irish cooking so I have a couple Irish cookbooks

  • Any cook book  by Southern Living is great.  I also have one called Make it Fast, Cook it slow that is good.  My favorite is from 1989 but I just discovered you can get it on Amazon.  It's the Picayune's Creole Cook Book.  My family is orginially from that part of Louisiana and I love the taste of home every now and then.

  • I love Alton Brown. I had no idea he had books!!!! OMG. I really, really want a just dessert cookbook(s). I have 30 minute meals, betty crocker, a homemade one from my grandma, a couple bread machine, and some other random ones. I like quick meals, but don't mind labor intensive on days off and I like making my own breads and desserts.

  • I have a Ted Allen one call The Food You Want to Eat.  I haven't made anything out of it yet...I keep putting it off but the recipes look 1.) simple and straight forward and 2.) delicious.

This gives you a whole range of different just dessert books.

(Sorry I can't make it clicky)

I can't think of any cookbooks for just breads and such, but if you PM what you like I've got a bunch of dessert and bread recipes from my pastry classes. Hope this helps!

  • Do you have an ice cream maker? I've recently started making my own and most recipes come from a blog, but they are originally from David Lebovitz.

  • I have The Cookie Bible, and a Betty Crocker Cookie book. As far as regular desserts I have a Pampered Chef Simply Desserts Cook Book, and a few other ones. I am currently feeling like crapola other wise I would go look for you and write them all down. I'll look tomorrow and come back and post them.
