Happy Monday!

What did you do this weekend?

What were the best/worst parts of this weekend?

Re: Happy Monday!

  • What did you do this weekend?

Thursday & Friday - days off from work.  I read a book, made some sorbet and ice cream, finished a craft project, just relaxed.  It was great!  I haven't had a true day off in a long time, and I loved every minute.

Saturday - block party at my aunt's house

Sunday - mall with DH and made dinner

What were the best/worst parts of this weekend?

Best - having plenty of free time, being able to sleep in, spending lots of time with DH

Worst - sweating my butt off at my aunt's BBQ on Saturday - her street planned a block party, but she doesn't have a pool.  It was kind of miserable.  She had SO much food and no one even had an appetite for it.  We just drank LOTS of water.

Also, I wish the weather wasn't SO hot so I could have gone to the beach :(  I don't think it was even cool and comfortable there.  Wahh!

  • We didn't do much this weekend since it was so hot.

Friday night went to Target and had dinner at home with DH.

Saturday went to Borders and got grocceries then stayed home the rest of the day.  DH finally broke my winning streak in the Game of Life.

Sunday was church, breakfast and Sams in the morning.  Then we had date night and went to see HP in the evening.

Best part: date night with DH

Worst part: the heat and the stupid kids in the theater last night who kept talking and giggling through the movie

    Anniversary

  • Friday evening DH & I had dinner in, then went to Borders (to check out their sales since they are closing)...I got a cookbook for $2.99! Also picked up some magazines at 40% off and Your Pregnancy Week by Week (I knew I wanted it, and figured may as well buy it now at a discount :) and also Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy b/c I heard it was hilarious! After that we went for ice cream.

Saturday I took my dog to the groomer, it was a new groomer and he was there for FOUR hours....so since it's nearby to my parents, I went and hung out there. After I picked him up, I went home and took a short nap. DH & I had dinner and then went to the pool for a bit.

Sunday was a pool day! After dinner we also did a deep clean of our bedroom and rearranged the furniture.

Best part was spending lots of QT with DH....it's the first weekend in awhile we've spent the entire weekend together. Worst was cleaning last night, our bedroom usually falls by the wayside when it comes to cleaning b/c we can so easily shut the door if company comes over....so we def cleaned our butts off! But it's so great to stand back and look at it now and see how great it looks!

  • Friday night I played tennis with my mom after work (another 2 hour match when it was 98 with 50% humidity). Then, I came home and made supper for Jeff and our friend, Jeff...who we call Rum to ward off confusion.

Saturday Jeff had a golf tournament all day, so I had the day to myself. I had a hair appointment in the morning, then went with some friends to the local community pool (hadn't done that in years!), then went to supper with those friends afterward.

Sunday I went and worked out in the morning, then did some laundry, went to the pool again til it started raining, and then did some more laundry. We leave Wednesday right after work for our family reunion, so I wanted to get all of the laundry done so I can start packing tonight so I'm not up late tomorrow night. I am down to just a few loads of whites, so that is good! : )

Best: My hair turned out great (went a little darker still) and the pool felt AWESOME! Plus, after a week of not working out, I still lost a pound (thought I would have gained).

Worst: Jeff's laziness is driving me BONKERS! Whenever it is this hot out he is just miserable when he gets home because he is out working in it all day, so he never wants to do anything. I completely understand, but I just need some input on what clothes to take so I can get everything ironed tonight! Rrrg.

  • I spent a lot of time sleeping this weekend Sad So not like me and sort of sucked!  We did manage to get some landscaping done on Saturday morning.  I also got the house cleaned a little and a few loads of laundry done.

Best Part:  Having enough energy to take Sadie to the dog park

Worst Part:  Laying on the couch like an invalid...

  • I had one of those weekends where I didn't originally have any plans, but turned out to be busy!

Saturday we went to visit DH's BF and his girlfriend and hang out by their pool. A couple other friends ended up coming over as well and we saw a few people we know who live in their apartment building, so it turned into an impromptu social gathering.

Saturday night DH and I went out to dinner. We weren't going to but the people upstairs from us were having a loud party and we wanted to escape it for a little bit. The joys of living in Hoboken. The party abruptly stopped at 11:45 so we think the cops broke it up. They had a keg on their balcony so I think they were planning to go all night. I just hope that they don't think we're the ones who called the cops.

Sunday we were trying to find something indoors to do to avoid the heat and ended up going into NYC to Eataly. It's this building owned by Mario Batali and a few other famous chefs with an Italian market, restaurants, and a rooftop bar.  I bought the best salmon there for dinner, and some fresh pasta I'll be making tonight. Yumm!

Best: Seeing our friends on Saturday.

    Worst: The heat; blech.

  • Friday night I made dinner, watched some tv and then I saw HP while DH went for a practice skate with his hockey team. After the movie and skate we met at a bar where one of the teammates works, out til 1:30am!

Saturday I slept til 11! I had a mild hangover bc the teammate didnt make my drink, another person did and it was not the good stuff like I usually have for margaritas. I NEVER get hangovers with margaritas so I was not happy. We chilled out for the morning and early afternoon then went to return a swimsuit I ordered online to the store, then had early dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and grocery shopping. Took it easy the rest of the night.

Sunday I made a yummy tomato feta pasta salad and ran some errands before DH's hockey game at 5:40. We got pizza and hung out outside after the game for a while, it was fun!

Best part: Getting some close one on one time with DH after having been away with kids and my family.

Worst part: Mild hangover which subsided about an hour after I got up Saturday (not bad!)

  • Friday we food shopped, cooked, cleaned majorly.

Saturday DH's best friend and his wife came to stay and I had to go into work for a couple of hours. I got home and cooked dinner and two of our other friends came for dinner which was nice. I made pulled pork and some side and for dessert I made mocha chip ice cream which was amazing.

Sunday we took them to our friends house for breakfast which was really nice then we ran a couple of errands and I rested since I worked my butt off on Saturday and DH did some house projects.

Best: Seeing our friends but also getting a new light in my kitchen which I LOVE mostly cause I can see better!

Worst: DH popped the two loose tiles out of the shower and started to repair  them....therefore we have to shower at my moms this week until its dry and fixed......Lovely......

And I'm going to the dentist today.....not the best way to start the week.

  • @Laurms- two things:

    1. Can you share the ice cream recipe? It sounds awesome!

    2. Could you tape a piece of plastic over the tile until it sets? (like a shower curtain liner)

  • Hello Ladies!

This weekend was a good one! We spent Saturday house hunting and looked at about 10 houses. Sunday I went out to breakfast with DH and we talked and decided we wanted to put an offer in on one. The rest of the day we attempted to relax while waiting for the realtor to call us back.

    Best Part:

Potentially having found our first home!

    Worst Part:

The anxiety involved with deciding if we wanted to put in an offer. Saturday night I was so overwhelmed at the thought that I barely slept a wink. I am sure as I am waiting for the offer to be approved I will be the same way!

  • @ Lisa of course here is the ice cream recipe

As for the tile....we possibly could have but one of them is touching the drain so I don't think that would have worked. (they are on the floor of the shower) plus he's re-grouting and re-caucking (sp?) the whole thing may as well get it over and done with.

YUM!  I LOVEEE  my ice cream maker!  Did you get my watermelon sorbet recipe?  I sent it to you via FB message.  I'll post it to our nest recipe blog too...

  • Happy Monday, Ladies! It's so good to be back :-)

The weekend was pretty awesome! The inn where we stayed in Virginia Beach was just gorgeous...no words! The beach was beautiful with a wonderful breeze blowing in from the ocean, nice waves, and well, you get the picture...lol...seriously could have stayed there all day :-)

Best Part: Being away with my sweetie for four nice days, hanging out at the beach and getting to visit our niece (and two month old great niece, Madelyn!) while we were in Virginia! I posted some pics of the cutie pie on my FB page that I took, so if anyone gets a little bored or need "cute baby fix"...be my guest!

Worst Part: The friggin' heat!!! WTF - every day that we were there the temps were at 100 or higher. One day it was 107, with a heat index which made it feel like 121! We didn't get to do as much outdoors as we would have liked, but all in all, I really can't complain :-))

  • @Allison I just saw it now that you said that. Stupid facebook didn't have a notification pop up which is weird...and annoying! But I see it now and that may be the plan for next weekend!!
